Miami Dolphins vs. Cincinnati Bengals

It must really suck to be a Dolphins fan today. Bad enough your team can’t win at home, after that big victory at Green Bay the week before. And bad enough that you feel you took a screwing from the officials on that Ben Roethlisberger fumble-that-wasn’t-recovered-or-was-it? Play last Sunday. All that is bad, yes. But today you look at the standings and two of the top three teams in the league (New England and the Jets) are each two games ahead of you in the standings, and you’ve already lost to both of them. At home. Makes you want to go swimming with the killer whales at Sea World. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

The Dolphins can get things going, and since they’re a better road team (3-0) than home team (0-3), what better place to start to get healthy than a game in Cincinnati against the underachieving Bengals. The Gals are in a similar situation as the Dolphins, breathing exhaust fumes expelled by the Steelers and Ravens, and sitting in third place in the AFC North.

After trying to run the ball against the Steelers (and without much success), the Dolphins should find the Bengals far more accommodating. Cincy pretty much hasn’t been able to stop anyone in a season that is already circling the toilet. Ronnie Brown (4.1 yards per carry) and Ricky Williams (4.3) should be able to fatten those averages against what amounts to batting practice pitching from the Bengals.

It’s beginning to look like the Bengals won the division with smoke and mirrors last season. Carson Palmer has fallen into average-QB range (would you trade him even up for Ryan Fitzpatrick?), and defensive coordinators no longer have to game plan for Cedric Benson (3.8 YPC).

Picks: Dolphins +2.5 and Over (43.5)

Kick the tires on Cincinnati at 2.5 if you want, but Miami is a solid play here, even at the awkward number. The Dolphins went toe to toe with one of the best in the league last week, and only that screwball call in the end zone on Roethlisberger’s fumble cost them from being 4-2 and in the thick of it. Miami plays hard every week. Looking for points, as Cincinnati’s defense has regressed drastically.
