NFL Betting – Week 8 Roundup
Week 8 in the NFL. The Weisguy takes over for Matt and offers up these recaps for your NFL viewing pleasure.
New York Giants 20 – Miami Dolphins 17
For the second straight week the Dolphins were in control and let that elusive first win of the season slip through their fingers. The completely wasted Reggie Bush’s second 100 yard performance of his career. Eli Manning was very sharp leading the comeback.
Houston 24 – Jacksonville 14
This game landed right on the number depending on when you played it. Not much to get excited about although I am wondering if Blaine Gabbert is setting some sort of record with starts with under 100 yards passing.
Baltimore 30 – Arizona 27
It took the Ravens a while to get themselves straightened out after losing to Jacksonville last week. Once they did they scored 21 straight points to take the lead. Arizona came back eventually leading to a winning field goal by Billy Cundiff as time expired.
St. Louis 31 – New Orleans 21
The biggest shocker of the week as the Rams grab their first win of the season against a highly thought of New Orleans team…with their backup QB no less. The Saints couldn’t protect Drew Brees (6 sacks) and his accuracy was off all game, including two interceptions.
Minnesota 24 – Carolina 21
This is a hard loss for Carolina. They took the lead and the Vikings kept countering. Eventually they kicked a field goal late for the victory. Here’s an interesting stat – both rookie quarterbacks, Cam Newton and Christian Ponder, had QB ratings of over 100 for the game. That sounds like a first to me.
Tennessee 27 – Indianapolis 10
No surprise on the outcome here. Don’t let the margin fool you into thinking Tennessee is good though. They blocked a punt for a TD and Indy couldn’t get out of their own way with penalties…and Chris Johnson disappointed again with just 34 yards on the ground, second on the team.
Detroit 45 – Denver 10
Take that Tebowmania. Great bounce back by Detroit here with Matthew Stafford leading the way. Not a perfect game but pretty close by the Lions. Great confidence booster heading into their bye week after a couple of tough losses. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Buffalo 23 – Washington 0
No surprise about the outcome but interesting to see how lopsided a game it was. Ryan Fitzpatrick excels with new contract and Fred Jackson says “show me the money” with 120 yards on the ground. Bills now atop AFC East and in control.
Cincinnati 34 – Seattle 12
The Bengals did just fine without Cedric Benson this week winning easily on the road even though the didn’t play great. They would have won anyway but you might be interested to know that their last 14 points were scored on special teams and defense so it wasn’t as lopsided as the score makes it look.
San Francisco 20 – Cleveland 10
49ers didn’t gain any style points with this one but they got the job done. They were up by 10 early and the game was never really in doubt. Running game allowed them to control clock and salt away victory.
Pittsburgh 25 – New England 17
Pittsburgh slowed Tom Brady and the Pats the way nobody else have this season. Impressive performance by Ben Roethlisberger makes sure the home fans went home happy. Looking forward to playoff rematch…Please!
Philadelphia 34 – Dallas 7
Total domination by Philadelphia. LeSean McCoy and Michael Vick were offensive stars but the defensive effort was superb also. Philadelphia has little margin for error but will have to be reckoned with from here on out. Look out Giants.
Kansas City 23 – San Diego 20
Another lost opportunity for the Chargers and another late minute gaffe for Phillip Rivers. It is getting to the point where maybe the Chargers are just a mediocre team and nobody wants to believe it. Give credit to KC thought for making the plays that were there.
