Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens preview

Last weekend’s overtime loss to New England may not mean much when the numbers are added up come playoff time, but for the time being at least it gives the Ravens some focus as they head into what should be the mother of all gimmee putts – a home game against the winless Buffalo Bills.

Baltimore missed a chance to tighten its control in what seems like its annual battle with the Steelers in the AFC North, and while the Ravens are no doubt kicking themselves on the missed opportunity, it surely will serve as motivation against the woeful Bills. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

Baltimore opened as a 13-point favorite and the line could fattern as early money moved toward the Ravens, who struggled offensively in the second half against New England’s inexperienced defense but should be able to dominate both sides of the ball against a Bills team whose only advantage in that it is coming off its bye week.

Buffalo hasn’t been within a touchdown since losing to Miami by 5 in the opener, and a defense that was supposed to be its strong point has now given up, in order, 34, 38, 38 an d 36 points. Consistent, anyway.

This one should start out with a healthy helping of Ray Rice and Willis McGahee. McGahee didn’t get a single touch in the NE loss even though he wasn’t listed as injured, and you wonder if the guy has joined the Witness Protection Program.

Handing him the ball a dozen times against his former team this Sunday might be a good idea. In fact, the Ravens are taking heat at home for a conservative game plan in New England, and fans should expect more of the same this Sunday – the Ravens figure to be able to beat Buffalo just by executing and making sure they don’t turn over the ball.

Picks: Ravens -13 and Over (37.5)

Buffalo couldn’t come at a better time for the Ravens, who get a bye next week. Even at 13 Baltimore should be able to cover as the Raven defense will get the ball to then offense in good field position. Baltimore’s bread and butter is running the ball, and the Bills have given up more yards on the ground than any other team. You do the math.
