Gambling Trends: Week 4 NFL

Sportsbetting.com’s Weekly NFL betting trend article shows there are two BIG NFL games in particular that have been attracting a lot of attention for betting on week 4 nfl games…

NFL Betting for Week 4

Flush with cash from winning the battle last week vs. the books on Sunday and Monday, the sports betting public takes aim at Week 4 action.

There are two games in particular that have been attracting a lot of attention, both from the media, the fans and of course from sports bettors.

Believe it or not, a non-conference matchup involving the NY Jets is at the top of the list of Sunday games in terms of interest. With first-year head coach Rex Ryan and rookie starting QB Mark Sanchez, the Jets have sprinted out to a 3-0 record and have also covered the spread in all three starts.

They put their perfect record on the line against the New Orleans Saints, who also boast a 3-0 SU and ATS mark. Online sportsbooks have the Saints listed as a 7-point home favorite, with the Over/Under set at 45.

Someone is leaving the field Sunday with their first straight up loss of the season…and bettors are guessing it will be New York. The moneyline action so far, as one might expect with a 7-point favorite, has been heavier on the hometown Saints, with 75% of all the moneyline action coming down on them.
But the betting volume has been even when you look at the pointspread numbers. 48% of the sports betting public think the Jets are good value to cover as a TD underdog.

Betting Trends:

The Jets have not done well on the road in October, saddled with an 0-8 SU and ATS record in their last eight road games during that month.

The Saints are hot in their last nine games when favored by 8-points or less, going 8-1 SU and ATS and are currently riding a six-game SU and ATS win streak within that time.

Packers at Vikings:

While the meeting in Lambeau will have even more hype around it, this first matchup between the Packers and Vikings, on Monday Night football, is getting a ton of attention.

Minnesota has been set as a 3-point favorite, with the Over/Under at 45.5.

While the “Favre-factor” obviously changes things, the historical numbers favor Green Bay in this one, as in the last 11 games where the Packers are underdogs of 4-points or less, they are 8-2-1 ATS and in their last 11 games against divisional opponents, Green Bay has gone 9-2 ATS, while Minnesota’s last eight against the same competition, they are only 2-6 ATS.

The early betting action likes Favre and his new team, with 63% of the wagering on this one favoring the home team.

It should be another great weekend of action for sports bettors.
