Indianapolis Colts vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview

The Bucs are coming off a solid win and are tied for first place in the NFC South with the Saints.

In their last games the Colts played pretty well, but still lost 23-20 to the Pittsburgh Steelers while the Bucs their conference rivals in the Atlanta Falcons 16-13.

The Colts are simply not getting it done in the air, so they will make a switch this week with Curtis Painter getting the start. He does have a legit receiver in WR Reggie Wayne and he must get him the ball and he also has to get help from RB Joseph Addai (189 yards 1 TD), who is averaging a solid 4.8 yards per carry. Tampa Bay ranks 23rd in the league both defending the pass and the run, but with Painter under center they will likely win this game if they can keep Addai from racking up the rushing yards.

Not only are the Colts missing Manning, but LB and defensive signal-caller Gary Brackett and S Melvin Bullitt are both out for this game due to injuries. When it rains it pours.

QB Josh Freeman has played well for the Bucs this season and he is completing almost 68% of his passes and averaging 227.3 passing yards game. However, he does have 4 INT and has fumbled the ball twice and since the Colts’ offense has their issues their D must come up with some turnovers this Sunday in the Sunshine State. The Colts’ pass defense ranks 18th in the league. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

2nd year RB LeGarrette Blount rushed for over 1,000 yards last season, but this season he has yet to get it going with 167 rushing yards and 2 TD. He will be going up a Colts’ run defense that only ranks 22nd in the league, but did hold the Steelers to only 68 yards on the ground in last week’s loss.

Indianapolis at Tampa Bay Betting Trends

Indianapolis is 1-2 ATS and has an O/U record of 2-1 and Tampa Bay is 2-1 ATS and has an O/U record of 2-1.

Indianapolis is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games, 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games as a road underdog, and in 6 of their last 7 road games the posted total has gone Under.

Tampa Bay is 5-16 ATS in their last 21 home games, 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games facing a team with a losing record, and has an Over record of 4-1-1 in their last 6 games at home.

Jason’s Pick: No Manning no win, as he has had to do it all the last few seasons and without him the Colts are simply not very good. The Bucs are playing with confidence and they will win this game and cover the spread. I also think the Under is the way to go since neither team will light up the scoreboard.
