NFL Against the Spread Preview

Week 15 of the NFL season is upon us – let the craziness begin! Last week was a tough week for bettors – snowstorms, crazy comebacks and some catastrophic injuries made it one of the hardest weeks to handicap that I can remember.

Let’s hope that things level off a bit, that some normalcy creeps back onto the NFL landscape and that the good teams do what they are supposed to do – win!

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos (-10)

Thursday night extravaganza! This game is simply a matter of whether or not the Chargers can score the 45 points that they will need to win this game. A double digit spread in a divisional game is slightly hard to back unless you are talking about the Broncos. At home, it is hard to imagine the Chargers keeping this one close.

Buffalo Bills (-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags have won four of their last five games and they are underdogs? Add in the fact that the Bills are just 1-5 away from home and the home team looks to be in good position to win their fifth.

New England Patriots (-2.5) Miami Dolphins

The Pats look ripe for the picking – don’t they? That said we never doubt Belichek and Brady at home when so much is on the line. Rob Gronkowski is out for the season but the Pats still have a ton of weapons in the running and pass game.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts (-6)

Does anyone have much faith in the Colts? I guess Vegas does! The Texans have absolutely plummeted and will play their first game without a coach they have had for seven seasons. Could it be a rallying cry or will the Colts finally right what has been a leaky ship?

Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5) at Minnesota Vikings

It is hard to envision the Vikes, minus Adrian Peterson doing very much in this game. The Eagles are playing with confidence and with a ton of swagger right now while all the wind is officially out of Minnesota’s sails after the loss of AP.

Washington Redskins at Atlanta Falcons (-6)

RG III will be inactive this week. Mike Shanahan waits ‘till Week 15 to show concern for his QB’s health? Something smells fishy here although Kirk Cousins could shock us all!

San Francisco 49ers (-5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The 49ers defense is a legit top 3 unit in the game and their offense is coming around as well. I can’t fathom the Bucs putting up any points on San Francisco and it is equally difficult to envision the Niners not keeping their offensive uptick going.

Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns (-1)

Who’s it gonna be? Cutler or McCown? Either way the Bears showed Monday night that they have the balance offensively to make some noise. Too bad about the D.

Seattle Seahawks (-7) at New York Giants

Revenge game for the Seahawks who will be motivated after losing last week to the Niners. Seattle’s defense looks like a total mismatch for the Giants offense that can’t help but turn the ball over.

New York Jets at Carolina Panthers (-11)

The Jets are terrible away from home and they have zero confidence in either of their QBs. Carolina won’t have to score a lot to cover – the Jets certainly won’t put up many points!

Kansas City Chiefs (-4) at Oakland Raiders

Another mismatch on paper but this could produce one of the upsets of the weekend. But the Chiefs defense is just too strong to let a below average offense beat them.

Arizona Cardinals (-2.5) at Tennessee Titans

The Cards have a ton to play for and they are responding. Defensively they are superior to the Titans and offensively they have found their groove. It will be hard for the Titans to match the intensity that Arizona will bring Sunday.

Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys (-7)

The toughest game of the weekend to call – will Aaron Rodgers play of will he sit? Obviously if Rodgers plays, they have the upper-hand but if he sits a Packers team that barely beat the Falcons will be in tough against Dallas.

New Orleans Saints (-5.5) at St. Louis Rams

The Saints put it all together last week and as long as they are not playing outside in the cold they have to be counted on. The Rams aren’t very good against the pass – not a good sign with Drew Brees coming to town.

Cincinnati Bengals (-3) at Pittsburgh Steelers

What? The Steelers are a home dog in December? Believe it – the Bengals are a better team in nearly every aspect of the game.

Baltimore Ravens at Detroit Lions (-6)

Baltimore is going to have to score a lot to keep up in this game and they haven`t really shown offensive explosiveness this year. The Lions have to take care of the ball – if they do there is no reason they shouldn`t run all over Baltimore.
