NFL Game Summaries – Week 12 Capsule Matchups

Week 12 in the NFL is in the books. The Weisguy takes over for Matt and offers up these recaps for your NFL viewing pleasure.

Green Bay 27 – Detroit 15

I don’t want to discount the Packers performance but the Lions did themselves in with turnovers and penalties.  This Green Bay team makes big plays but they also avoid mistakes.

Dallas 20 – Miami 19

The Dolphins probably should have won on Thanksgiving but they just couldn’t get the ball into the end zone.  Kicker Shayne Graham kicked 4 FGS all under 30 yards. You have to punch it in to win.

Baltimore 16 – San Francisco 6

A hard fought game that Mama Harbaugh can be proud of.  Baltimore wins because they made the plays in the 4th quarter to put points on the board.

Atlanta 24 – Minnesota 14

It wasn’t an overly impressive performance by the Falcons but in a game they had to have they got the job done.  With Adrian Peterson out things are going from bad to worse for the Vikings.

Carolina 27 – Indianapolis 19

The Colts don’t seem to be quitting but they aren’t getting better either.  For fantasy fans that Reggie Wayne guy showed up this week with 122 yards.  We haven’t really seen much of him this season.

Tennessee 23 – Tampa Bay 17

It looked like Tampa was going to break through, finally, but instead it was Chris Johnson who rushed for 190 yards.  The Bucs lost an astounding 4 fumbles in the game, limiting their chances.

Houston 20 – Jacksonville 13

Matt Leinart just can’t catch a break.  He is in a great situation but broke his collarbone in a fairly easy win for the Texans.  They didn’t dominate in the running game but were solid.  This team looks like a shoein for the playoffs now.

Arizona 23 – St. Louis 20

Beanie Wells seems to finally be living up to his promise.  He set a Cardinals record with 228 yards on the ground on Sunday.  That and another punt return for a TD were enough for the Cardinals to escape with a victory.

New York Jets 28 – Buffalo 24

The Bills blow another one and are officially out of the playoff picture it seems.  Mark Sanchez threw for 4 TDs including one with a minute left to grab the victory and enable the Jets to stay in the playoff race. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Cincinnati 23 – Cleveland 20

Great win for the Bengals.  Not because the Browns are all that good but because they had to have it and fought hard to win.  This team isn’t flashy but they get results.  Andy Dalton plays like a 10 year vet, most of the time.

Washington 23 – Seattle 17

The Redskins dominated in the stats but had to use a large 4th quarter comeback on the field to get the victory.  If you were actually watching and rooting for the Skins it might have been fun to watch the last 10 minutes.  If you weren’t this game was yuck.

Oakland 25 – Chicago 20

Oakland just keeps on winning.  Chicago struggled in its first game without Jay Cutler and is going to be hard pressed to find many more wins if they can’t get better play at QB.  As Cutler showed us it doesn’t have to be great.

New England 38 – Philadelphia 20

Have we finally seen the last of the Eagles?  Vince Young threw for 400 yards and it still wasn’t enough to beat the Patriots.  Not even close.  The Pats are gathering steam.

Denver 16 – Sam Diego 13

And Tim Tebow does it again, converting mediorcre statistics into a win…in overtime.  The season is now officially lost for San Diego.  What a waste.

Pittsburgh 13 – Kansas City 9

Not sure whether this one was bad offense or good defense…probably both.  Pittsburgh would have been in a bad spot if they lost.  It would have been nice if they scored in the second half, but still a victory for the Steelers

New Orleans 49 – New York Giants 24

A very impressive performance by the Sains who are pretty unbeatable at home these days.  Some late scores by the G-Men made it respectable, barely.
