St. Louis The Rams might have been the worst team in the league last year and I am doubtful they have done much to improve themselves.  They are given no chance to compete in the NFC West and open the season in a really tough spot on the road at Detroit, one of last year’s most improved teams.

Realistically all the Rams are hoping to do is show enough fight so that there is some hope for next season. Last year, amidst an injury plagued season, QB Sam Bradford regressed.

That is not a good sign for this franchise and to be honest I never really thought he was a franchise QB.  Making matters tougher is that he still doesn’t have a go to receiver (or TE).

That puts a lot of pressure on do everything back Steven Jackson who is one of the more unsung players in the league. The offense is not in great shape.

Depending on how things play out over the next 24-48 hours this could be the biggest line of the day on Sunday…and based on last year probably justifiably so.

There is nothing to like about the Rams this season other than a new coach and hopefully new attitude.  Detroit is no juggernaut but they should be in command the whole way. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Detroit Things finally came together for Detroit for the first time in a while last season.  A powerful offense took them to the playoffs and if they can maintain that level of offensive proficiency they should definitely be in the running again.  Many are predicting a slide which happens so often in the NFL.  There is such a thin margin between a 10-6 and an 8-8 season.

They get a nice easy game to start though. The running game might once again be a mess due to injuries but when Matt Stafford drops back and sees Calvin Johnson good things happen.

Megatron is awesome and well complimented at receiver and with emerging TE Brandon Pettrigrew.  This year they are hoping the defense can take a step like the offense did last year.

They are very good on the defensive line but the back 7 is not all that impressive.  More shootouts to come this year.

Week 1 in the NFL can be a real free for all as you can never truly tell which teams have improved or fallen.  As a result it is generally a good strategy to avoid big numbers but in this case I am willing to take the chance…just be smart on the bankroll side of things.

Detroit should roll.

Covered by halftime and then coasting.
