Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders Preview

The Broncos wrapped up the AFC West last week and their work is not done, as they want to host some playoff games in the Mile High City. Denver has won 7 straight games while the Raiders are reeling losers of 5 straight. On top of that when these 2 teams met earlier this season the Broncos crushed the Raiders 37-6.

In their last games the Broncos beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 and the Raiders lost to the Cleveland Browns 20-17.

On the season the Broncos are 6-6 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 8-4 and the Raiders are 3-9 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 5-7.

Peyton Manning has to win the Comeback Player of the Year and he has over 3,500 passing yards with 29 TD, but he does have 1 INT in each of his last 3 games. WR Demaryius Thomas is turning into a star and he and Eric Decker have combined for over 1,800 receiving yards this season. No wonder the Broncos are a double digit away favorite, as the Raiders only rank 25th in the league in pass defense and their pass rush has the 2nd fewest sacks in the league.

Willis McGahee is out for the season with a knee injury and Knowshon Moreno and Ronnie Hillman combined to rush for 98 yards last week. However, last week these guys played well facing a solid Bucs’ run defense while Oakland only ranks 28th in the league defending the run and they gave up 122 rushing yards.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

For Oakland to win this game they will need Carson Palmer to play well and last week he passed for 351 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT. WR Brandon Myers and Denarius Moore are a couple of solid young WR’s and will be facing the Broncos and their 6th ranked pass defense. It is key for the Raiders that their offense line plays well facing a Denver pas rush, which is led by Von Miller (15 sacks), that has the 2nd most sacks in the league.

After missing almost a month Oakland RB Darren McFadden should go in this game and the Raiders really need him even though he is only averaging 3.3 yards per carry. The Broncos’ run defense ranks 7th in the league and they stuffed the run last week in the win over Tampa Bay.

In some betting trends for this AFC West match up the Broncos are 12-26-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 road games.

The Raiders are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games and they have an Over record of 7-3 in their last 10 home games.

Jason’s Pick: The road team is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 games between these 2 division rivals and that trend will continue. I mean the Raiders allowed Brandon Weeden to pass for a ton of yards last week and how will they fare facing a red-hot Manning, who is in form and has 4 MVP’s? Not well, as the Broncos will win and cover.
