NFL Betting – Super Bowl rematch highlights Thursday gridiron action
Betting online is about to kick into another gear, starting on Thursday as eight teams begin their preseason schedule. The big game comes from Pittsburgh, where last year’s Super Bowl combatants go at it.
Patriots vs Eagles odds – 7:30 PM ET
Philly is favored by 2.5 points at home, and while New England fans are excited to see Tom Brady on the field, it won’t be for a very long time. The Patriots may still have success as the Eagles have suffered a number of injuries in camp, but Bill Belichick never really takes these games seriously, while a number of Eagles will be playing their guts out with open spots now available. Place an NFL bet on the Eagles to cover.
Redskins vs Ravens odds – 7:30 PM ET
The Washington quarterbacking situation is completely up in the air, which can permeate throughout the team. The Ravens will be eager to show they were more than Rex Ryan, their defensive coordinator who left to coach the Jets. The Ravens are favored by a field goal, they should be the wagering pick in your handicapping software.
Cardinals vs Steelers odds – 8:00 PM ET
The Steelers are favored by three in this Super Bowl rematch, and Arizona’s Bryant McFadden returns to Pittsburgh after bolting in the offseason, although he won’t see much action. This will be a huge game for Arizona’s Matt Leinart, who is looking to show he can be a solid No.2 quarterback, and possibly push Kurt Warner. He hasn’t shown much so far in his NFL career, and the “Terrible Towel”-waving fans won’t let him forget it. Go with the Steelers.
Cowboys vs Raiders odds – 10:00 PM ET
In what is the first, and possibly only, time that the Raiders are sportsbook favorites, they have a 3-point spread against the Cowboys, who are moving past the Terrell Owens era. However, the Raiders have injuries to both JaMarcus Russell and Jeff Garcia, which means I could step in and play quarterback for the Raiders. Dallas is actually quite deep on defense, and they should tee off on the Raiders, so if it’s an “upset” you’re looking for, take the Cowboys with your NFL betting pick.
