New England Patriots vs. New York Jets Preview

With a win the Pats can, pretty much, wrap up the AFC East, as every other team in the division is sitting at 4-6. NFL lines have the Patriots as 7-point away favorites with a total of 48.

In their last games the Pats crushed the Indianapolis Colts 59-24 and the Jets beat the St. Louis Rams 27-13.

Both teams in this division match up are 6-4 ATS and the Patriots have an Over/Under record of 8-2 and the Jets have an Over/Under record of 5-5.

While Brady has been en fuego he will be without his big TD target for a while since TE Rob Gronkowski was injured in the Colts game will miss a few games. Still, Brady has Wes Welker and several other solid targets and they will be up against a Jets’ pass defense that ranks 4th in the league. Brady passed for nearly 260 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT in the earlier win over the Jets.

Even in the blowout win Pats’ RB Stevan Ridley did not have a good game, but he may have one this Thanksgiving facing a Jets’ rushing defense that ranks 30th in the league.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Mark Sanchez has been under a lot of heat this season, but he played well in the Rams game and he passed for 328 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT in the earlier loss to the Patriots. It does not help that he does not have a good WR corps and lead WR Jeremy Kerley, who had over 120 receiving yards in the game against New England, may have to repeat his earlier performance facing a Pats’ pass defense that only ranks 30th in the league.

Sanchez has to be careful with the ball against a New England defense that leads the AFC in forced turnovers.

Jets’ RB Shonn Greene has not had the best last couple of games and New York will need him to run the ball well mainly to keep Brady in check on the sidelines. However, that will not be easy since the New England run defense ranks a respectable 10th in the league.

In some betting trends for this AFC East match up the Patriots are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and they have an Over record of 17-5 in their last 22 road games.

The Jets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and they have an Under record of 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record.

Jason’s Pick: The Patriots are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 meetings in New York and that trend will continue, as unlike the first game in New England the Pats will easily win this game and cover the spread.
