The anticipated debut of QB Marcus Mariota is finally here. The Tennessee Titans travel to Atlanta to do battle with the Falcons in the opening game of the Preseason season for both teams. Mariota, who was drafted 2nd overall, has been said to be having a solid camp and will look to show his skills off Friday night.

Kick off is set for 7:00 PM ET with QB Marcus Mariota getting the start for the Titans with Matt Ryan opposing him. While Mariota will get a majority of the time for the Titans, Ryan is expected to play a quarter or less here.

Tennessee Titans

When you’re making headlines without actually playing a single down in even a preseason game, you’re doing something right. That’s been the case for QB Marcus Mariota as the 2nd overall pick has been a standout at Titans’ training camp.

Mariota has been said to have thrown over 200 passes during training camp without throwing a single interception.

That being the case, the spotlight will be on Mariota come Friday night as his debut has been anticipated since he walked on stage at the 2015 NFL Draft.

Mariota will get a majority of the time in at QB, but we will also see Zach Mettenberger get some time. This being Mettenberger’s 2nd year with the Titans, he’ll look to build off a 2014 season that saw him throw for 1412 yards and 8 touchdowns.

He’s solidified himself as the Titans’ #2 and will be a solid backup to the rookie.

Atlanta Falcons

While the Titans’ work their new QB into their system, the Falcons at least know they don’t have to worry about that. QB Matt Ryan is back once again under center as he looks to get the Falcons back into post season contention in 2015.

Ryan has been a solid QB and has put himself in the middle tier of QBs. However, his inconsistent play from time to time and poor decision making has led the Falcons to some tough losses in recent years.

The story line in Atlanta will be the head coaching change. Dan Quinn walks into a solid job as he has Matt Ryan and Julio Jones to build around.

The main question offensively for Atlanta will be at the RB position.

With both Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman getting injured in camp, both RBs who were set to battle it out will have to do so not at 100%.

Freeman has the upper hand in the battle as this is his 2nd season in the Falcons’ offense, but Coleman comes into his rookie campaign a solid threat as he dominated at Indiana last season and put up impressive numbers.

NFLBetting Trends:

  • Titans are 15-33-4 ATS in their last 52 games overall.
  • Titans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.
  • Titans are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on fieldturf.
  • Falcons are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games on fieldturf.
  • Under is 9-3 in Falcons last 12 games overall.

4* NFL Betting Prediction: Under 37

With the question of how much Matt Ryan and Julio Jones will be playing here, the Falcons will likely keep the ball on the ground a lot so they can get a look at Freeman and Coleman.
NFL Score Prediction: Tennessee 17- Atlanta 7

Mariota will definitely have some jitters early, but should impress as Tennessee wins it’s preseason opener in a low scoring battle.
