Superbowl 46 Betting Online – 2011 Jaguars Season Preview

Jacksonville Head Coach Jack Del Rio was able to salvage an 8-8 record last season that in turn salvaged his job for at least one more season.

NFL 2011 Team Preview and Odds – Jacksonville Jaguars
Odds to win the AFC South +800
Odds to win the AFC +3000
Odds to win the Super Bowl +6000
Jaguars Season Over/Under Win Total Odds Over/Under 6 Wins (-115)

This team has hovered around the .500 mark for a couple of seasons now, but patience could quickly wear thin if this team does not get off to a good start in 2011.

Del Rio might not be there to see it, but the Jaguars are hoping they found their ‘quarterback of the future’ with the selection of Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert with the 10th overall pick of the draft.

Jaguars Super Bowl Lines & Predictions

For this season it appears that David Garrard will remain the starter, but do be surprised if Gabbert works himself into the starting lineup sometime this season, if Garrard cannot improve a passing game that was ranked 27th in the NFL last year. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Running the ball should not be an issue for a Jaguars team that had the third-best rushing attack in the league behind Maurice Jones-Drew, who rushed for 1,324 yards last season.

The real problem with this team still lies on the defensive side of the ball. Jacksonville ranked near the bottom of the league in almost every major category. It gave up an average of 372 total yards and 26.2 points a game in 2010 and was equally as bad against run as it was against the pass.

Del Rio did little to address these issues in the draft, by using just two late round picks to select a pair of defensive backs. The Jaguars did make an early splash in the recently opened free agent market by coming to terms with LB Paul Posluszny, who played his previous four seasons in Buffalo.

Posluszny will definitely help to sure-up the middle of this defense, but they will need to bring in a few more quality players to try and turn things around.

Jacksonville has made a habit of winning a number of games with some smoke and mirrors as on-paper it is not a very good team. Unless something drastic happens between now and opening day, this is shaping up as pretty much more of same for this team in 2011.
