Superbowl 46 Betting Online – 2011 Bills Season Preview

When the early odds were released for this year’s Super Bowl, the Buffalo Bills had the highest number in the AFC to win at +10000.

Odds to win the AFC East +3000
Odds to win the AFC +7500
Odds to win the Super Bowl +15000
2011 Win Totals – 5

The player lockout was lifted and the NFL reopened for business with the craziest free agent frenzy in the history of the league, and a couple of weeks later their odds to win it all expanded to +15000.

Bills Super Bowl Lines & Predictions

This team has its fair share of holes and, in my opinion, not worth the risk for such a high return on a wager, but Buffalo is far from being the worst team in the league.

The Bills decided to hand the reins to the team over to Chan Gailey, who spent a few seasons awhile back as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He is known as an offensive minded coach having served as coordinator for four other teams over the course of the past 20+ years.

He inherits a decent chunk of talent on this side of the ball with players such as quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, running backs Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, and wide receiver Steve Johnson. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The offense, as a whole, struggled to put points on the board last season with an average of just 17.7 a game, but the individual performances of these four offer an encouraging outlook for improvement in this area in 2011.

The Bills could really make the biggest strides this season on the defensive side of the ball. After finishing last season ranked 24th overall and 28th in points allowed, Buffalo first used the draft to address some obvious needs with the selection of DT Marcell Dareus with the third overall pick in the draft. It also added DB Aaron Williams in the second round and LB Kevin Sheppard in the third.

Once the free agent market opened up, the Bills signed former Packer LB Nick Barnett to go along with LB Shawne Merriman, who was claimed off waivers from San Diego last fall.

If these two former All-Pros can play anywhere near their past form, this Buffalo defense should be able to keep this team in the game with just about anyone it plays.

The schedule works against a dramatic turnaround from last season’s 4-12 record with the NFC East and road games against the Chargers and the Chiefs on the slate, but this team will win a few extra games in 2011 and throw a scare into a few more along the way as a team that is worth watching against the spread.
