New England Patriots vs Denver Broncos Betting Preview

Tim Tebow will face his biggest challenge yet in his attempt to continue to convert non-believers, as Tom Brady and the AFC East-leading New England Patriots come to Mile High with one thing on their mind–ending the Broncos miraculous six-game winning streak.

New England vs Denver
When: 4:15 PM ET, Sunday, December 18, 2011
Where: Sports Authority Field at Mile High, Denver, Colorado
TV:CBS
LINE: -6 (New England) O/U 46

New England is currently riding their own wave of success, entering Sunday’s contest as winners of five straight, and can clinch their eighth AFC East title in nine years with a win or a New York Jets’ loss to Philadelphia.

But the Pats (10-3) luck in Broncoville hasn’t been all that good, as they are just 2-15 in Denver since 1969.

But having Brady under center always increases the odds of winning, and the Patriots’ field general is playing some of his best football as of late, throwing for 357 yards and three touchdowns in a closer-than-expected 34-27 win over Washington last week.

He will however, have to put his sideline spat with offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien behind him if he wants to tackle taking down Tebow. The pair were caught on camera exchanging heated words after Brady threw a rare red-zone interception in the closing mutes of the fourth quarter against the Redskins.

Before that Brady tossed a pair of TDs to Rob Gronkowski, who had six catches for a career-high 160 yards. Gronkowski has 10 scores in his last six games. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Meanwhile, the league’s worst defense gave up 170 yards on the ground to Washington, which is going to be a huge concern as it prepares to face the NFL’s top-ranked rushing attack.

In the meantime, the revival is well underway in Denver (8-5), and Tebow has silenced critics and revitalize the AFC West-leading Broncos’ season, by winning seven of his eight starts one fourth-quarter comeback at a time. Including last week’s rally to a 13-10 overtime victory over the visiting Chicago Bears.

After competing three quarters going 3 of 16 for 45 yards, Tebow parted the Bears’ defense by completing 18 of 24 for 191 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter and overtime period. It was Tebow’s sixth fourth-quarter comeback in 11 starts.

Once again, it would be Matt Prater to send the game into overtime with a 59-yard field goal, and then won it with a 51-yarder–his third straight game-winning kick..

However, Tebow isn’t the only reason the Broncos are soaring. Veteran RB Willis McGahee has resurrected his career, and now has an NFL-best six 100-yard games while nearing his first 1,000-yard season since 2007.

You also can’t take anything away from the Donkey’s D, as they are allowing an average of just 15.6 points over the last five contests.

Matt’s Prediction: Broncos 28, Patriots 24–
Call me a believer, because I think the football world will kneel before Tebow on this Sunday.
