Chiefs vs. Jets Gambling & NFL Free Prediction (Week 14)

Kansas City Chiefs vs N.Y. Jets Betting Preview

Rex Ryan’s AFC East second place New York Jets will look to stay in the thick of the race for the final Wild Card spot in the AFC,when they host the injury riddled Kansas City Chiefs who are coming off a surprising win over Chicago their last time out.

Kansas City v New York
When: 1:00 PM ET, Sunday, December 11, 2011
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
TV:CBS
LINE: -9 (New York), O/U 36.5

Fans at Met Life Stadium will show no love for the Chiefs who continue their woeful season as injuries seen to pile up every week. From Eric Berry to Matt Cassel to Jamaal Charles to Kyle Orton the injuries just don’t seem to stop for the Chiefs.

But KC caught a break last week, and ended a four-game losing streak with a 10-3 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, who are suffering through some injuries of their own.

Ironically, former Bear and recent KC acquisition, Orton, left with a dislocated index finger after throwing just one pass in the game at the start of the second quarter.

That put all the pressure on default quarterback Tyler Palko, whose 38-yard Hail Mary to Dexter McCluster at the end of the first half, coupled with Ryan Succop’s 21-yard field goal later in the game, was enough to notch the win.

Since coming in for an injured Cassel, Palko, well, has been awful, completing just 62.7 percent of his passes with just one touchdown and six interceptions. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

McCluster, however, who has done a nice job replacing Charles, finished with 107 total yards against the Bears, and is averaging 4.7 yards per game.

But it was the defense that came up big against Chicago, racking up seven sacks en route to their first win since Oct. 31.

They will need another strong outing against the who Jets have won three out of five coming out of their bye week, including a 34-19 win over Washington last Sunday.

The win locked the Jets (7-5) in a log jam with three other teams for the final Wild Card spot in the AFC, and now they get a chance to extend their two-game win streak, as well as separating themselves from the pack with a win over KC.

The Jets have been great at home going 5-1, but struggling on the road going 2-4.

QB Mark Sanchez, has been inconsistent, but he gets it done most of the time as he has completed 56.5 percent of his passes for 2,678 yards with 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Sanchez did engineer his 10th career game-winning drive in the fourth quarter and his second in two weeks, first hitting Santonio Holmes with a 30-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter and then tacking on 21 more points in the final five minutes against the Redskins.

Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson returned to action after missing a couple of games with a knee injury, but he was injured again early in Sunday’s game. He did return later, but much of the rushing attack as been shouldered by Shonn Greene who is averaging 4.0 yards per carry with five touchdowns.

But overall the New York running game has come up short.

Matt’ s Prediction: New York 16, Kansas City 10–

The Jets don’t have an easy road in and will need every game to be securely in the playoffs. However, despite that type of motivation, this is a lot of points to be laying for a team who wins at home but hasn’t been overly impressive overall this season. Both teams defenses seem better than the offense at present and I expect the New York to get an ugly win here but closer than the spread the odd makers are offering.
