Week 2: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills NFL Preview & Free Pick

Kansas City vs Buffalo Odds & Prediction

The Buffalo Bills throttled the Kansas City Chiefs 41-7 as a 3.5-point underdog last year in the season opener. Kansas City certainly hasn’t forgotten that game, and the Chiefs are much healthier now than they were last season.

Matchup | Preview

The Bills suffered some key injuries in week one. Both of these teams are looking for their first win of the season.

Kansas City

Kansas City picked up 393 yards of total offense last week against Atlanta, but they also turned the ball over three times. The Falcons piled up 40 points as they didn’t turn the ball over at all. In the end, the Chiefs outgained the Falcons, but came up short on the scoreboard. The Chiefs have a strong backfield this year. Jamaal Charles is back and healthy, and Peyton Hillis is a very good backup running back. The Chiefs should be able to run the ball well as long as the offensive line does a solid job. Matt Cassel must take care of the ball and get it out to Dwayne Bowe and Dexter McCluster as often as possible.

Eric Berry missed last season with an injury, and having him out of the lineup really hurt this Chiefs defense. Tamba Hali will be back for this game after sitting out week one due to a suspension. The Kansas City defense really fell apart last season, but with guys like Berry, Dorsey, and Hali they should be able to hold their own this year. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Buffalo

The Bills will be without Fred Jackson for a few weeks after he was injured in week one. David Nelson will be out for the entire season after tearing his ACL in the team’s week one loss to the Jets. Those are two very important pieces of the Bills offense that will be missing. Ryan Fitzpatrick had a miserable first game of the season, and the team needs him to be much better this time out. He started last season red hot, but he has been throwing too many interceptions over the last few games. Expect C.J. Spiller to get the majority of the carries this week. Spiller is a guy with game-breaking speed, and he’ll look to make the most of this opportunity.

The Buffalo defense was shredded by the Jets last weekend. Going into the season, all the talk was about how bad the Jets offense was, but Mark Sanchez and the Jets offense moved the ball at will against Buffalo last week. The Bills didn’t get any pressure on Sanchez, and the secondary was picked apart. The Bills must find a way to get to Cassel in this one.

The Bills absolutely smashed the Chiefs last year, and I think Kansas City will be very hungry for some revenge here. Getting the three points with the dog seems like the way to go in this matchup.
