The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles will renew hostilities on Sunday night with top spot in the NFC East on the line. The Giants have looked terrific since their Week 1 loss while the Eagles, despite winning their first two games have looked less than spectacular so far.

The Giants are coming off an impressive win over Carolina while the Eagles are coming off a humiliating loss at Arizona last week. Needless to say, Sunday night should be interesting!

The New York Giants and Eli Manning have looked terrific in their last two games – Manning has been throwing the ball like a man on a mission.

Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks are recognizable names in the receiving corp. but the sign of a good quarterback is if he can include other pass catchers in his scheme. Ramses Barden (WHO???) had nine catches for 138 yards last week and Tight End Martellus Bennett had six catches for 73 yards and a TD.

The Giants are clicking on offense for sure and own the second ranked passing game. The running game is 16th in the NFL averaging just over 100 yards per game. That stat may be a tad misleading however Ahmad Bradshaw has been banged up and backup Andre Brown filled in spectacularly in Week 3.

It all adds up to the Giants returning to the elite tier of NFL offenses – a scary proposition for any of their competition.

The Giants defense has been underwhelming as a whole so far this season but this unit tightened up last week and made Cam Newton look very average. The Giants are 22nd against the pass and 10th against the run so far this season but have shown a tendency to blow up at times – look no further than the 34 points allowed versus Tampa!

Still, the Giants have to be licking their chops at the prospect of facing the turnover-prone Eagles!

The Philadelphia had been dodging bullets in during their two game win streak to start the season – they turned the ball over nine times in those two games and still won. Well in Week 3 their three turnovers cost them in their ugly 27-6 loss at Arizona.

The critics are out in full force – Sunday becomes a crucial test for this team and this franchise! [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Eagles offense hasn`t been all that bad so far. They are 8th ranked in the passing and the running game.

But as mentioned turnovers are absolutely killing this team.

Michael Vick was bad last week – 217 yards with two fumbles, LeSean McCoy was OK and DeSean Jackson was made to look average against Arizona.

This is a team that is definitely fragile in their psyche. It will be interesting to see in the Giants defense can rattle them the way the Cardinals did!

Philadelphia`s defense certainly hasn`t been a problem. They are an OK 16th against the run but they are a solid 3rd against the pass which should come in handy against Eli Manning and his high octane passing game.

Betting Prediction: A few trends

  •  NY Giants are 5-0 SU in their last 5 games on the road
  •  NY Giants are 8-1 SU in their last 9 games
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the NY Giants last 5 games
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of the NY Giants last 5 games on the road
  •  Philadelphia is 7-1 SU in their last 8 games when playing NY Giants
  •  Philadelphia is 6-1 SU in its last 7 games
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Philadelphia’s last 5 games
  •  The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Philadelphia’s last 12 games when playing NY Giants

The Eagles may be the luckiest 2-1 team in the league outside the Seahawks. They haven`t looked great and the pressure to succeed is nearing a fever pitch. I can`t see the Eagles winning this one – the G-Men are too complete a team and they are playing too well at present to be denied.

The turmoil in Philadelphia will build to a crescendo.

Watch as the fans turn on their team by half time!

Pick: New York Giants +1
