Sunday’s matchup has all the makings of the best game of the weekend – let’s break it down.

The Seattle Seahawks proved once again that they are a complete team with their road win last week. When the offense sputters, the defense is capable of making that game-changing play to turn the team’s fortunes around. Defense is the key to the Hawks’ success and this week they will be tested by a team that simply doesn’t turn the ball over.

Seattle’s defense, although stout gave up 355 yards to Matt Schaub last week and 171 total yards to Arian Foster. They also generated the pick-6 that turned out to be the difference in the game! Seattle’s pass rush is furious, their secondary is arguably the best in the game with Richard Sherman all but totally shutting down opposing receivers and the run stopping ability has been off the charts so far this young season. We know that Seattle’s defense will do its job; it looks, on paper to be up to the offense to do its part this week if Seattle hopes to return home 5-0.

Seattle got 98 yards rushing and a TD from Marshawn Lynch last week and another 45 yards receiving. The Hawks will need him to dominate the game again this week. Russell Wilson threw for only 123 yards last week but like Lynch did his part on the ground as well. This offense has been good this week and will be looking to better what was just an OK effort in Week 4. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

The Indianapolis Colts look like a contender in the AFC – their only loss so far was to the Miami Dolphins. In week 2 this team destroyed the San Francisco 29ers 27-7 on the West Coast and they have only gotten better with the acquisition of Trent Richardson. Don’t look now but the Colts have a balanced offense for the first time in the Andrew Luck era.

Luck is as advertised – an absolute Stud! He is completing just over 64 percent of his passes, for 918 yards and five scores, averaging a solid 7.2 yards per completion and Coby Fleener looks like a Stud at Tight End – a terrific security blanket for Luck. Former first round pick Trent Richardson has two TDs in two games for the Colts – they are dangerous!

Defensively Indianapolis has held their own so far this season. I think it is more a product of the stellar offense dictating the pace of the game. Make no mistake about it though, the Colts D will have their hands full with Russell Wilson and the boys!

Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider

• SEA are 14-3 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• Over is 6-2 in SEA last 8 road games.
• SEA are 26-9-1 ATS in their last 36 games overall.
• Under is 12-3 in IND last 15 home games.
• IND are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games.
• Under is 22-8 in IND last 30 games overall.

This is a pretty tough game to call but I am taking the Colts at home this week. Truth be told – the Hawks may have gotten a little lucky last week in Houston and if not for Matt Schaub’s penchant for the pick-6 they may have lost that game. Andrew Luck doesn’t make the same mistakes as Schaub – he and the Indy offense take care of the ball. It looks like a 20-17 game to me.

Pick: Indianapolis Colts +1
