The Seattle Seahawks didn’t play badly in their 19-13 loss to St. Louis last week. They fell victim to a 60 yard field goal, a 58 yard field goal and a touchdown off a faked field goal. But they didn’t play well either specifically the offense. Russell Wilson finally looked like a rookie in passing for 160 yards, zero touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Marshawn Lynch was typically stellar last week – the Hawks absolutely need him to have a chance in this game.
Seattle isn’t a great offense – plain and simple. They are dead last in passing and they own the sixth best rushing offense. They score only an average of 17.5 points per game – good for 28th in the NFL. It is obvious what the Hawks will need to do – keep feeding Marshawn Lynch!
The Seattle defense has been stellar this season – 9th against the pass and a superb 2nd against the run. They allow 14.5 points per game – good for 2nd in the league. Keep in mind that this defense has played Dallas and Green Bay already and these numbers are even more impressive. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
The Carolina Panthers don’t look like the same team that we saw last year. The running game has been OK and the passing game has been OK but the team is 25th in scoring in the NFL. Something just isn’t clicking in Carolina.
Carolina’s defense has been abysmal this year – otherwise we may be talking about Carolina being 3-1. They are 22nd versus the pass and 25th against the run – not good when Marshawn Lynch is coming to town! They give up over 27 points per game and their generosity is costing them.
