Seattle vs Chicago Betting?

Top Defenses Clash – Seahawks visit Bears in Week 13

Two of the best defenses in the NFL take to the field in what has turned out to be a very important NFC clash. For the Seahawks they put a 1-5 road record on the line against a Chicago team that sustained some potentially damaging injuries on both sides of the ball last week. Seattle needs a win in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Bears need a win to maintain their grip on the NFC North with Green Bay hot on their heels.

The Seattle Seahawks need a win badly – they let one get away from them last week in Miami and need a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. Also facing this team is the reality that they will likely lose their two starting Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman to suspension after this game. Its desperation time in Seattle – they have to bring their best this week or lose all hope of gaining an improbable playoff berth.

The Hawks have been improving offensively all season long. Rookie QB Russell Wilson has completed 63.6 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and eight interceptions while being sacked 21 times. Marshawn Lynch is averaging 4.5 yards per carry with five touchdowns and has the reputation of one of the toughest backs in the league to bring down. Sidney Rice has 37 catches and six touchdowns, Golden Tate has 30 catches and six touchdowns, and Zach Miller has 26 catches. Seattle owns the second worst passing offense in the NFL but are getting better to compliment their 8th ranked rushing game and Marshawn Lynch who will be eager to rebound from an uncharacteristically poor outing last week in Miami.

The Hawks defense continues to be the Hallmark of this team although this unit could look a whole lot different if their corners are unable to win their appeals next week. Seattle is 3rd against the pass and 12th versus the run. They give up just 16.82 points per game – 3rd in the NFL.

The Chicago Bears could be in some trouble heading into Week 13 – RB Matt Forte, WR/KR Devin Hester, CB Charles Tillman, LB Lance Briggs, LG Lance Louis, and RG Chris Spencer were all injured in a win last week against the Vikings. That`s six starters that may not play this week!

Chicago’s offense has not been very good as of late, mostly because of an offensive line that is giving up an average of 3.18 sacks per game – 30th in the NFL. Jay Cutler and the passing game are dead last in the league with an average of just 177 yards per game and the running game is 10th but may have to go without their top producer Matt Forte. It’s a good thing for Michael Bush – he is a more-than-capable backup as shown in a two touchdown performance last week. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Against a top defense like Seattle’s it begs the question though – Is the offense going to be able to generate any momentum at all on a day that Jay Cutler will be the hunted?

Chicago’s defense is good enough to carry the Bears to victory Sunday but they are banged up as well! Chicago is 6th against the pass and 8th against the run and they give up under 16 points per game. They are the best unit in the NFL and are largely responsible for the Bears being an 8-3 team.

Betting Prediction: A few trends to consider:
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Seattle’s last 5 games when playing Chicago
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Seattle’s last 5 games when playing on the road against Chicago
• The total has gone OVER in 4 of Seattle’s last 6 games
• The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Seattle’s last 6 games on the road
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Chicago’s last 5 games when playing Seattle
• The total has gone OVER in 5 of Chicago’s last 5 games when playing at home against Seattle
• Chicago is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games at home
• The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Chicago’s last 5 games at home

This is a terrific spot for the Seattle Seahawks – marching into Soldier Field to take on a battered Bears team that isn’t exactly without their issues. Seattle will be motivated and should be able to score in the nicked Chicago defense. The Bears on the other hand will likely have a tough time keeping Jay Cutler upright and from blowing a hissy fit. Seattle bounces back from a lackluster performance in Miami and looks good against Chicago. In a low scoring game take the points and watch for a possible upset.

Pick: Seattle Seahawks +4
