There wasn’t a whole lot of change in the Pacific Northwest during the offseason – Seattle will go with largely the same lineup that terrorized the league last year en route to a most deserved Super Bowl win.

A very tough schedule including an almost unfair road slate has Seattle poised to take a step backward. It’s a good thing for the talent and the professionalism on this team – Seattle will see the absolute best that every team has to offer this upcoming year.

With a huge target on their backs the Seahawks enter the season looking good on paper – Marshawn Lynch ended his mini-hold out and it seems like it is all systems go for Seattle.

The offense will definitely be improved in 2014 and the defense should be right where it was last year.

The biggest difference for Seattle heading into 2014 will be on offense, specifically a passing game that was without Percy Harvin for the majority of the season. We all saw what a difference Harvin can make to this lineup – he was an absolute spark plug in limited touches in the Championship game last year.

Golden Tate was lost to free agency and Sidney Rice retired – both leave a small hole in the offense but one that can be absorbed by Harvin, Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and a couple of impressive draftees.

Make no mistake about it – the Seahawks will be a run-first team again this year – they averaged 137 yards per game on the ground last year – a recipe that carried them through the year in 2013. Marshawn Lynch will be the main option – he is certainly a capable one at that.

Christine Michael and Robert Turbin will play the backup role and act as two of the most underrated second and third options in the NFL.

On defense, there is no reason to think the Seahawks will take a step backward – this unit is worth eight wins all by themselves. Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner are gone via free agency but Seattle was as deep a team as there were at those positions last year.

Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas are the best in the NFL at their positions – Seattle’s vaunted secondary should still be good despite the recent departures.

All in all the Seahawks allowed just 14.4 points per game – best in the NFL. There is little or no reason to think the defense won’t be a strength for Seattle this year as well.

Seahawks Season Wins Betting Prediction: Over 11

Russell Wilson is a winner – his attitude has translated up and down the Seahawks lineup. If Wilson remains healthy there is no reason to think the Seahawks won’t go at least 12-4 this upcoming season, despite having the eighth toughest schedule in the league.

You have to think that Seattle will win seven or eight at home meaning that all they have to do is play .500 ball on the road in order to eclipse the 11 win Total that Vegas has set out.

Pick the Over – 11 wins as Seattle makes a run at another Super Bowl in 2015.
