The Denver Broncos went 12-4 last year, which was good enough for an AFC West Division Championship, as well as a tie with the New England Patriots for the best record in the AFC.

The team went into the playoffs having won five of its final six contests, including a 47-14 trouncing of the Oakland Raiders in the final contest of the regular season. Unfortunately, Peyton Manning and crew were dealt a 24-13 loss in the first and only contest the team would see, courtesy of the quarterback’s old team: the Indianapolis Colts.

Last season, Manning tossed for 4,727 yards, which was good enough for the fourth-best mark in the league. There were rumors of the franchise looking to trade the legendary QB this summer, but that proved to be much ado about nothing, as Manning is set to start behind center once again in 2015.

This season, the Broncos should see an approach that is committed to pounding the run game. Denver has a crowded backfield, but consider that a good problem to have. Best-case scenario is that the team finds a guy who establishes himself as the undisputed first option, and then the complementary pieces become insurance to injury and the team utilizes their individual strengths in certain situations. Worst-case scenario? This team establishes a crew by committee that keeps teams guessing at every turn.

On top of a crowded backfield, Gary Kubiak — the team’s newest head coach following the departure of John Fox — has promised this team will hit the ground running in that department. As ESPN.com’s Jeff Legwold points out, the coach hopes this will “take some heat off quarterback Peyton Manning and give Manning more room to work in the passing game, because defenses won’t be able to crowd the bread-and-butter intermediate routes.”

On the docket this year is With three contests on Sunday Night Football, one contest on Monday Night Football and a single feature on Thursday Night Football. This season marks the fourth season in a row that the Broncos will be seen on at least five nationally televised games.

Simply put: This group has been the Alpha team of the AFC West since Manning came on board. There’s no denying that he’s getting closer and closer to retirement, but there’s little reason to believe he’ll see a significant drop off in 2015-16 based on what we’ve seen this far.

The question is: How good can he and the Broncos be, as the quarterback is now 39 years old?

2015 Denver Broncos Season Win Betting Prediction

Bet on Over 10 Games (-130)

Assuming health doesn’t come into play in a major way for this franchise (especially Manning), there’s no reason to believe double-digit wins isn’t attainable. In fact, that number seems at least two games too low, as a 12- or 13-win season doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility here.

The Broncos appear primed to win the AFC West this season, and while it wouldn’t be shocking to see a team like Kansas City compete as well, the consensus appears to be Denver at this point in the process.

The return of DeMaryius Thomas keeps this group right where it was last season: In the thick of a Super Bowl run. Also look for C.J. Anderson to be one of those tailbacks looking for a breakout season this year.
