Football Preseason NFL Predictions

Let’s take a quick look at some preseason picks and NFLX Predictions for a few marquee weekend matchups of the 2009 NFL preseason for Week 1…

Saturday NFL Action

NFL betting fans have a taste for the sport they love now that the preseason is underway. Let’s take a quick look at some preseason picks for a few marquee weekend matchups. Remember – the preseason is unpredictable, so sometimes it’s best to focus on one key storyline that can make a difference. For example, the Dolphins have an edge on Monday night against the Jags because they have better backup quarterbacks.

Using that betting management principle, let’s make some picks for Saturday.

Bears vs Bills odds – 7:00 PM ET

While he certainly won’t play too much, Jay Cutler will make his highly anticipated Bears debut Saturday night. I like the Bears’ running-back depth, but the Bills should stretch their starters out more since they’re playing their second preseason contest. In the end, the Bears are the best bet since they’re at home and because the Bills’ O-line isn’t looking too hot right now.

Browns vs Packers odds – 8:00 PM ET

The theme of this game is position battles, which is why Cleveland should pull off the upset as a three-point betting online underdog. Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn have a ton of work to do before Eric Mangini decides on a starter, so they should try – and play – more than your average quarterbacks in the preseason and score some points against the Pack. Bet on Cleveland.

Texans vs Chiefs odds – 8:00 PM ET

Can the hyped Texans finally reach the postseason? Don’t count on Saturday’s game to answer that question. The Texans’ O-line is banged up and they’ll rest Mr. Glass, a.k.a. brittle quarterback Matt Schaub. While their offense looks very exciting for the regular season, their backups stink. Kansas City is more likely to give its starters extended playing time with a new coach, system and quarterback, so they should outscore the Texans on Saturday, perhaps by a lot more than the two-point spread. Pick the Chiefs.

Seahawks vs Chargers odds – 10:00 PM ET

I smell another upset thanks to Seattle’s offensive depth. Their second-team offense for 2009 includes Seneca Wallace, Courtney Taylor and Deion Branch – all guys who spent most of 2008 with the first unit. In other words, they should have no trouble beating Charger backups to the end zone. Include the Seahawks among your Saturday NFL picks.
