San Diego

It has be just a matter of time before coach Norv Turner is fired in San Diego.  Since evening their record at 4-4 the Chargers have lost 4 straight, including some games where it looked like the team just quit.  The only reason to not fire Turner now is that it would not do any good at this point…

As usual the general opinion is that San Diego should be better.

Part of the blame has to fall on QB Philip Rivers who has been terrible this year.  Sure it hurts losing your top target but he has also been overly prone to turning the ball over.

Running back Ryan Mathews has been in and out of the lineup but has still yet to live up to his clippings coming out of Fresno State.

Defensively they are strong against the run but weak against the pass – a healthy Roethlisberger should carve them up…Another loss probably has them mathematically eliminated so maybe, just maybe, they have one last stand in them.

Doubtful.

They have some familiarity with Pittsburgh but not enough to get the juices flowing for this one.

Plus Pittsburgh has one the last three.

Pittsburgh

The Steelers stole a huge one last week when they beat the Ravens.
[soliloquy id=”82219″]
They kicked a field goal to win with no time on the clock in a game everyone assumed would be an easy win for Baltimore.  With backup QB Charlie Batch to boot.

Pittsburgh is looking good for the playoffs but has to keep their foot on the gas.

A loss this week would be disastrous after they have weathered their injuries so well…And by injury I mean the absence of QB Ben Roetlisberger.  They went 1-1 in the two starts he missed keeping them in the chase.

He is probable for Sunday which should only make a difference in the final score not in whether the Steelers win or lose.  Assuming he is fit I expect them to let him bomb away.  No reason to put him out there just to hand off, right?

They could blow these guys out…

Overall the Steelers have been down this season so it is no surprise they are 5-6-1 ATS.

Last week was their first ATS win in a month and I would prefer this one were more around 7 than 10 to bet it.

The return of their emotional leader should be felt all over the field and I expect the Steelers to roll.
