San Diego Chargers vs. New York Jets Gambling Prediction & Week 16 Preview

Chargers vs Jets NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Jets were eliminated last week in comical fashion while the Chargers haven’t been relevant for a while now.  Both coaches are fighting to save their jobs so there could be some extra creativity in this contest.

San Diego

The Chargers didn’t put up much of a fight against Carolina last week and should be embarrassed by the effort they put up in front of their fans.  A road trip to an equally disappointing team might be just what the team needs.  All expectations are off this season so the team could surprise with a victory…

One advantage the Chargers have against New York is at quarterback.

Philip Rivers may be having a rough season but there is no immediate call for his replacement…yet.  The running game has been sluggish with Ryan Mathews, who is now on IR, so who knows what you are going to get from this team offensively.

This could be a game of the first one to 14 wins the way these teams have been playing of late…This is a great game to try and determine which franchise is in worse shape.

You want to say San Diego has more going for it but it is hard to tell for sure based on what we have seen lately.  Maybe wait and see which way the money goes and play the opposite.

New York

The comedy that is the New York Jets just keeps on coming. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

After last week’s embarrassing loss against Tennessee the Jets have finally decided to go in a new direction at the most important position on the field.  They had to do something but I am not sure the move gives them the best chance of winning on Sunday…New starting QB Greg McElroy won plenty at Alabama but he wasn’t required to do all that much.

He has had very limited action as a pro which makes him an unknown quantity at best.  His only game action came against Arizona when he led the Jets to victory in relief.

There could be magic there but I would prefer the Jets have a game plan that relies on running the ball and getting a stellar defensive effort…

New York can finish at .500 with a win this week and at Buffalo to close the season, pretty amazing given the level of ridicule they have been enduring.

With an inexperienced QB at the helm I am not sure I would put my my money on them winning another game, even though San Diego isn’t exactly an inspiring option either.

Spread Pick:  San Diego +1
