The Philadelphia Eagles have lost their last two games, both critical divisional tilts, yet somehow are still in the middle of things in an awful NFC East. This week they are on the road where they have been playing their best ball this year (3-1 record).

They are taking on an Oakland team that upset Pittsburgh last Sunday but is certainly not all that great. Both of these teams have trouble moving the ball through the air so this should be an interesting ground and pound battle.

It certainly could be close but it also might be super boring.
Philadelphia
The Eagles have scored only 10 points the last two weeks combined – so much for taking the league by storm. You are clearly not going to win too many games with that kind of offensive production but more importantly, what happened? Injuries for sure but has the league caught up with them already? Only time will tell.
This week it looks like QB Nick Foles has been cleared to play but at the time of writing it is unclear whether he will be given the chance to start.
What is clear is that rookie Matt Barkley has not been good but is there really a reason to potentially rush Foles? I guess they are still in the division race so that my be reason enough. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Defensively the Eagles have been solid lately giving up only 17 and 15 points in back to back losses. Last week they did not yield a touchdown to the Giants.
Usually when that happens a team wins, overall though this is not a great defense.
Oakland
The Oakland Raiders were one of my least favourite teams last week as I was pretty heavy on Pittsburgh, who they upset at home in another ugmo.
The amazing part was they they did it despite the fact that QB Terrelle Pryor threw for less than 100 yards while throwing two interceptions – that is not supposed to happen in the modern pass happy NFL.
Sure he used his running skills to amble for more than 100 yards on the ground but most of that was on a 93 yard touchdown scamper. All in all the Raiders were terrible on offense yet somehow got the victory (The Steelers were terrible too).
Defensively they are pretty good though, 10th in yards allowed and only 6th in points allowed. They are tough against the run too so the Eagles may have to beat them through the air which is where Foles’ availability will be key.
It is amazing to think the Raiders could be favoured against anyone but it actually might make some sense this week.
