Oakland vs KC NFL Football Spread/Handicapping
The Kansas City Chiefs have to be the most surprising 5-0 team in the league, as they are keeping pace with the Denver Broncos in the AFC West. Sure Andy Reid is a good coach and QB Alex Smith is an upgrade but nobody could have seen these kinds of results coming.
What is not surprising though is that the Raiders are pretty bad. They have been fortunate to win a couple of games already but it wouldn’t be a shock to see them go winless the rest of the season. There just isn’t a lot to work with over there.

Oakland
Oakland is coming off a victory over San Diego last week in which they were outgained by more than 100 yards.

It was a classic case of turnovers making the difference as the Raiders picked off Chargers QB Philip Rivers 3 times and DB Charles Woodson scored on a fumble recovery.
Kansas City has been playing pretty close to mistake free football so I don’t think they can rely on that happening again which is why they are going to find it very rough to win on the road again this weekend.
The offense led by QB Terrelle Pryor is in the bottom third of the league and the defense, which has played much better than expected, eventually gets overexposed by being on the field too much.
The Raiders are going to be hard pressed to keep this one close and are a tough team to get behind because their offense can be so anemic at times. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Kansas City
Through the first 5 games the Chiefs defense has given up the fewest points in the league – 11.8 ppg – a spot they are likely to keep until they play the Broncos a couple of times later this season. Thus far the defense has not only been good is has been opportunistic.
They have a total of 3 defensive touchdowns, tied for the league lead, and they lead the NFL in sacks which makes it easier to get off the field.
Their defense creates havoc making it possible for their offense to do just enough to win. This year that offense is being led by QB Alex Smith who, true to expectations, is putting up pedestrian numbers while avoiding costly mistakes.
Oddly he has not found any chemistry with their top receiver Dwayne Bowe.
That would seem anomalous after a game but after 5 it is more interesting.
However with RB Jamaal Charles playing well and other players stepping up it hasn’t affected them too badly. I am not entirely sold on the Chiefs but with every week I am being convinced.
