Ravens vs. Dolphins NFL Gambling Prediction & Week 5 Preview

Baltimore vs Miami NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

The home Dolphins were riding high before getting punched in the mouth at New Orleans last week. There is definitely no shame in losing to the Saints who are just lethal at home but the loss also affirmed that the Dolphins are certainly not NFL elite yet, despite their fast 3-0 start.

At 2-2 they are in the hunt in their own division but it is hard to tell if they are still among the AFC elite (it seems unlikely). If they are than they should win this contest and knock the Dolphins down another peg.

Baltimore

It is hard to know what to make of the Baltimore Ravens as this point of the season. They have that 2-2 record which is OK but they haven’t shown us much.

After the Super Bowl and the big contract QB Joe Flacco was supposed to be elevating his game on a permanent basis but we haven’t seen it, in part due to the fact that he just doesn’t have the weapons he had last year and because he has underperformed.

Meanwhile the retooled and younger defense looks more than OK so far. They are in the upper half of the league in all categories and have shown some big play ability where they might have been living more off reputation the last couple of seasons. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

It feels like Baltimore could go either way this season and this game will be part of figuring out that direction. Its October already.

Miami

The Dolphins were not expected to win at New Orleans last week so there is no need for a supreme overreaction from the result. This week they have a near perfect rebound situation in a return trip home to face a team with a lot of questions to answer in Baltimore.

For Miami they kind of know who they are they just need to get better at it.

They need to get better at running the football, probably by cutting down on Daniel Thomas’ carries so that Lamar Miller can explode like he predicted; they need to get better as passing the football by getting WR Mike Wallace the ball more – I think he is overrated but they are paying him a heckuva lot to be their 4th receiver; and they need to defend a little better where they are just in the middle of the pack after a season that showed a lot much more than that.

Do all of those things and they should win easily on Sunday and be a contender all season long.

Spread Pick: Miami -3
O/U Pick: Over
Score Prediction: Miami 26 – Baltimore 21
