Arizona Cardinals vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Gambling Prediction & Week 4 Preview

Arizona vs. Tampa Bay NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

The fans in Tampa Bay are hoping that things have hit rock bottom and that the Buccaneers can get their first victory of the season with a new quarterback at the helm this week. That is putting an awful lot on a rookie third rounder but they seemed to have no other choice with the way things were going.

As much as this change may help so should a visiting opponent that has been known to lay down at times in the Cardinals. At least Arizona has a victory to their credit so far even if they looked lifeless last week against New Orleans.

Both of these teams are playing for a measure of respect.

Arizona

The Cardinals made big changes in the offseason bringing in a new coach and a new quarterback. After just a few games the dividends haven’t really been there and the team is just 1-2 and their lone win against Detroit could have easily been a loss if RB Reggie Bush doesn’t get hurt for the Lions.

New QB Carson Palmer is probably an improvement over what they had last year but he has not been all that great. He has not been efficient enough completing less than 60% of his passes while throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

It has been a shame to watch Larry Fitzgerald the last couple of seasons. I don’t know why they aren’t able to feature him the way that the Bears do Brandon Marshall who is no better that Fitz.

One thing the Cardinals do do well is defend against the run. They are third in the league giving up less than 75ypg.

Tampa Bay

Year 2 of the Greg Schiano era has been a disaster so far. They lost to the Jets in the opener and things have gone from bad to worse since then. Schiano has decided that enough is enough with QB Josh Freeman, whose poor play and attitude were hurting the team on and off the field.

So this week they are turning to rookie Mike Glennon, a third round pick out of N.C. State with a strong arm. Glennon is blessed to have a nice complement of skill players in RB Doug Martin and WR Vince Jackson.

The defense is right in the middle of the pack with a chance to be pretty good so if the rookie quarterback is ready to be a pro this team could get a lot better in a hurry.

Some had this team as a sleeper to make the playoffs this year. At 0-3 that seems pretty unlikely but I like the aggressiveness of the move.

Spread Pick: Tampa Bay -1
