New York vs. Carolina NFL Football Spread/Handicapping
These are two winless team so this is definitely a critical game for both this week. Probably more so for the Giants who definitely entered the season with playoff expectations. Lucky for them the NFC East hasn’t shown very well this season so a win will have them right back in the race.

Not so for the Panthers who were hoping to show some improvement early this year because they are developing a pattern of only playing well in meaningless games down the stretch.

In the same division as New Orleans and Atlanta they know they are up against it in terms of making the playoffs and losses like their one against the Bills last week will make it very difficult to challenge as well.
New York
The Giants may be 0-2 but lets at least acknowledge that they have had a very challenging start, first with Dallas on the road and then Peyton Manning at home. Those losses have not been because this team isn’t talented, they have simply proved that they are not talented enough to make mistakes and win – and they have made a lot of mistakes with QB Eli Manning having thrown 7 interceptions already this season. Masked under that is an offense that can really move the ball through the air (first in the league). However, they might not be able to keep up that pace if they don’t start getting some production from the league’s worst ground game – less than 40 yards per game.
Defensively they have given up the most points but it almost hasn’t been fair because they have been put in so many bad situations by their offense. If they lose this one then we will definitely have something to be concerned about though.
Carolina
The Panthers have two losses by a combined total of 6 points but there is still a lot to be concerned about in Carolina. The key thing is that this team just doesn’t seem to be able to make the winning plays, losing both of those games after being ahead in the second half.
This was supposed to be the year QB Cam Newton takes a step forward but we have not seen any of that yet. Through two games he is averaging less than 200 yards passing and it is not because he is tucking and running with just 9 carries. If they are going to break out of their run it is because he pushes them there.
This week on defense they are going to have their hands full with the Giants receivers. I don’t think this is an epically bad team but this does not look like the right week to forecast a victory either.
