Browns vs. Ravens Gambling Prediction & Week 2 Preview

Cleveland vs Baltimore NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Every team in the AFC North lost their opening game last week but not all of those losses were of equal concern. Baltimore went into Denver with the best of intentions but didn’t have an answer for Broncos QB Peyton Manning, it looks like few will this season.

Sure they looked a little disorganized but the end result was not a surprise.

For Cleveland, they hosted a Miami team that was ripe for the picking but instead gave them the game with turnovers and offensive ineptitude. The only bright spot was a defense that looked pretty sharp, at least for week 1.

Now they are on the road risking falling into that dreaded 0-2 hole.

Cleveland

If you watched the Browns’ opener it was the tale of two teams really. On offense it was more of what we are used with with QB Brandon Weeden throwing to to the wrong coloured jerseys and RB Trent Richardson getting little done in the running game.

However, on the defensive side of the ball the Browns looked very good. They held the Dolphins to less than a yard per carry and sacked Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill 4 times while holding Miami to only 255 yards of total offense. Usually when you are that stout you are the victor but until they can start ironing out some of their offensive problems that is not going to happen.

The Miami defense was good but they might find the revamped Baltimore D more to their liking (Denver did, but they have that Manning guy)…Otherwise it is an 0-2 start and “here we go again” talk in Cleveland. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Baltimore

I have to admit that I thought the Ravens were being disrespected when I saw the number on their opener against Denver. But if you watched the game, and the injuries they incurred during it, this team is not exactly championship calibre, at least not right now.

Lucky for them they do not need to be nearly that good to win their home opener against Cleveland on Sunday. Beating them should be no surprise as the Ravens have owned the Browns winning 10 straight while covering 70% of the time.

To keep that streak going they need to get RB Ray Rice going. He was a non-factor running the ball against Denver and even though he caught 8 balls against the Broncos it was for a paltry 35 yards – what the point in opening him up for hits like that.

Baltimore needs this one to maintain their status among the better, if not elite teams, in the league and the experienced members of this group won’t let them lose to the Browns.
