It is the final week of the season and there are lots of scenarios in play with Miami tied with Baltimore and San Diego in the AFC. Only one of those three teams can advance to the playoffs and it is obvious your chances are enhanced if you win your final game.

Miami gets the easiest opponent of the group but the other teams are playing teams who have already clinched playoff berths so who knows how those games are going to go.

All the Dolphins can focus on is winning.
New York
Only a couple of weeks ago the Jets were also in the running for the last playoff spot in the AFC too. I suppose it is possible all of the contending teams finish with 8-8 records then who knows what happens but in my books their season is finished and all they can do now is try and spoil the Dolphins’.
That prospect seems unlikely though given this team has won only once on the road all season long and lost to Miami at home by 20 points to start the month.
This year’s Jets are a study in contrasts in that they are very good at running the ball and stopping the run but terrible throwing and defending the pass. It is not surprising that they can not move the ball aerially worth a damn with their rookie QB but this was a team that used to be among the best in all phases on defense.
I guess the trading of Darrelle Revis was harder to compensate for than expected.

Miami
Miami was looking like the horse to bet on with a couple of games to play but they went up to Buffalo and got shutout. A loss would have been one thing but to lose the way they did against a team with nothing to play for can be a tough thing to get over emotionally.
Worst of all QB Ryan Tannehill was terrible after being the primary reason the Dolphins were making a push.
Even the defense took the afternoon off letting the Bills rush for more than 200 yards even though they had a backup QB in the game and conditions were such that running was the best way to go. That brings up another concern as the Dolphins did not even average 2 yards per carry on their limited attempts against Buffalo.
That and 7 sacks indicate that the shuffling to plug the leaks are the Martin-Incognito incident has finally caught up with them. Even if these guys can suck it up for just one more game what kind of a chance will Miami have if they make the playoffs.
