Tennessee vs. Indianapolis NFL Football Spread/Handicapping

Both of these teams really need this one for slightly different reasons. For the Titans they are on the fringe of the playoff race, needing a win to maintain their current place in the pecking order.

If they can get that win than they will also put themselves a little bit back in the game for the division title too.

It would have seemed improbable only a couple of weeks ago but Indianapolis has proven over the last few weeks that they are anything but a sure thing.

Tennessee

The Titans have one shot to extend the meaningful part of their season.

The problem is it is against a team they have already lost once to this year, a game they kind of gave away on their home turf. However, since then the Colts have seemed pretty vulnerable so their is a chance, especially this team has played better on the road than at home this season.

If they are going to try for a road upset it would be nice if RB Chris Johnson showed up.

He has been very average this season and has more games with under 40 yards than he has with over 80.

With Jake Locker hurt the Titans have turned to Ryan Fitzpatrick and he is doing what he always does, trying to to fool a team into believing he can be their starter. It turned out poorly for Buffalo and the Titans would be wise not to read too much into the fact that he has put up three straight games with passer ratings over 100.

He is a backup but one capable of beating these Colts with some help.

Indianapolis

If the Colts are truly Super Bowl contenders they shouldn’t be getting whipped by the likes of St. Louis and Arizona. Especially given that they beat the Seahawks and the 49ers, the true heavyweights in the NFC West.

The fact is the Colts have not been the same team since WR Reggie Wayne went down.

He was the soul of that offense and without him it is a lot of young players, QB Andrew Luck included, running around trying to make plays.

They still can’t run the ball worth a lick (thanks for nothing Trent Richardson) and lack the consistency they used to have moving the ball up and down the field.

The defense is probably better than you think thanks to DE Robert Mathis enjoying a great season with 14.5 sacks so far. He can wreak havoc for sure but sometimes he can be taken out of the gameplan by the opposition because they don’t have a bookend for him right now.

The material is there for a good team but I don’t think they are championship calibre.
