The Bears missed an opportunity last week getting drubbed by the Rams.

This is a game they can certainly win as the Vikings are having a very poor season. If they can’t get back to winning this season they don’t belong to be in the discussion of playoff worth teams.

Chicago

It is going to be another week with QB Josh McCown at the helm for Chicago. He has been more effective at the position than starter Jay Cutler and last week was the first time he had thrown an interception this season.

He may not have as strong an arm as Cutler but he is more mobile and he seems content to live to play another play rather than force the action unnecessarily.

You don’t think of them that way but the Bears are the 4th highest scoring team in the league. That is helped somewhat by an opportunistic defense but they move the ball too and should be able to have success against the Vikings

Speaking of that defense they are going to have to tighten up a bit as they are the worst team in the league against the run. Even though he is not having another 2K season Vikes RB Adrian Peterson still has the ability to make a defense look silly.

With other teams showing signs of life in the NFC the Bears have to get back on track. I am shocked they aren’t the favourite though.

Minnesota

Minnesota is playing out a season that has been lost for weeks. Despite that they don’t appear to be throwing in the towel, though they squandered a huge lead on the road last week at Green Bay in a game that ultimately turned out to be a tie.

The Vikings still have their identity tied up in Peterson who despite criticisms is going to shoot past 1000 yards this week (he is at 997 entering the contest).

If he can break 1100 or even 1200 than the Vikings might have a really good chance of getting their first victory against a team with a winning record this season.

As key as Peterson is they also need to get something out of their defense. You don’t really think of them as being that bad but no team has given up more yards this season than the Vikes.

When these teams met in week 2 they gave up 31 to the Bears in a one point loss. As it turns out that is their seasonal average.

Spread Pick: Chicago +1
