NFL Predictions: Packers Super Bowl XLIX Betting Lines & 2014 Preview

Green Bay Packers – 2015 Super Bowl Chances

Green Bay Packers Preview

The Green Bay Packers look primed to continue their run atop of the NFC North. I am not a big fan of their signature move of the offseason – bringing in DE Julius Peppers – but even if it is a failure this team should have more than enough offense to make the playoffs, then who knows.

They haven’t bridged the gap with the likes of Seattle but they are a contender, maybe second in the conference after the Seahawks who they face the opening week. Cappers Picks provides free NFL football handicapping tips all season long.

Packers Strengths

When Aaron Rodgers got hurt last season the Packers season seemed doomed. But once he was back he led the team to the playoffs adding to his legend in Green Bay and his stature among the elite quarterbacks in the league.

I am not saying he is the best QB in the NFL but I am confident the Pack wouldn’t trade him for any other one.

Though not drafted in the first round running back Eddie Lacey had a superb rookie season.

He gives the Packers more balance than they have had in years and can easily surpass last year’s numbers given he wasn’t used much early in the season. If you play fantasy football don’t forget about this guy.

The best unit on the defense should be the secondary, bolstered by the addition of Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix, who will probably be used at safety but could also play corner.

He and thumper Morgan Burnett will form a rangy duo in the middle while Sam Shields and Tramon Williams lock down opponents outside.

Packers Weaknesses

The defensive line has question marks. B.J. Raji is not the player he was a few years back and the addition of Julius Peppers, who is deep into a well decorated career, is a bit of a risk, especially if they are going to ask him to stand up more. This group is longer on questions than answers.

The same can be said of the linebacking group. They keep talk about wanting to get more athletic in replacing A.J. Hawk but he is still in the middle (and making tackles).

On the edge they desperately need Clay Matthews to have a healthy season. When he is at his best he makes everyone’s job easier.

Green Bay is the rare elite offense without a stellar offensive line, which goes to show you just how important Rodgers really is. This group will hold the keys to the Packers season.

If they can be strong and keep the QB upright while opening up enough holes in the running game a 4th straight division title.

With Aaron Rodgers at the helm and healthy for a full season the Packers should easily improve on their record from a year ago.

It is hard not to like Green Bay when they are an underdog because of their strong offense.

I am going to skip them in their opener up in Seattle but after that they are a nice road play especially within the division, look for upsets (those might be debatable) at either Chicago or Detroit, maybe both.
