NFL Betting – Week 12 Picks

Week 11 was another strong week – not like the 4-0-0 last week but pretty good. The Week 11 picks went 2-1-1 with the Giants letting me down in a big way!

This week, three Thanksgiving Day games headline what is a very interesting schedule. I will focus in them along with one critical AFC East game. I hope to return to the 4-0-0 plateau!

So, without further adieu, let’s keep the roll going with the Cappers Picks Weekly Handicapping Preview – Week 12.

WEEK 11 ATS PICKS RECORD: 2-1-1
SEASON ATS PICKS RECORD: 28-18-2

Green Bay at Detroit

Thursday, November 24, 12:30 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Packers -6

To say that the Green Bay Packers are rolling is a colossal understatement. 10-0 and looking unstoppable on offense. The Lions had been struggling but exploded for 52 points against Carolina. The game is going to be a shootout so the question is who do you trust the most? Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley or Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson and Brandon Pettigrew?

It is going to be a fun game to kick off the Turkey Day festivities. In a high scoring game, there is no team I trust more than the Green Bay Packers.

Pick: Green Bay Packers -6

Miami at Dallas

Thursday, November 24, 4:15 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Cowboys -7

Two teams on three game win streaks collide in the second Thanksgiving Day game. The Miami Dolphins have woken up and is suddenly looking competitive and Dallas is finally starting to realize their potential.

Last week, the Cowboys defense made Rex Grossman, Jabar Gaffney and Dante Stallworth look pretty good. Now they will face an offense that is on quite a roll – Matt Moore went an efficient 14 for 20 for 160 yards and three touchdowns. The Miami running game has been better as well making the Fins a surprisingly balanced offense.

We know that Tony Romo and the Dallas offense will score some points. The offense has been clicking in both the running game and the passing. The Cowboys face a surprisingly stout test in a Miami team that has been good defensively – 8th in points allowed per game this season.

I like Dallas to win this game but they are just 4-8-1 ATS in their last 13 games and are 2-4 ATS in their last six at home. The Cowboys win but the Dolphins make a game out of it. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Pick: Miami Dolphins +7

San Francisco at Baltimore

Thursday, November 24, 8:20 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Ravens -3

We know we are going to get some defense in this one! The San Francisco 49ers can earn a ton of much needed respect with a win in Baltimore on Thursday night. Waiting for them is a Ravens team that has looked just OK lately but certainly considers themselves in the upper echelon of the NFL.

The 49ers are 9-0-1 ATS this season – incredible. These teams are pretty evenly matched – the running games and defenses are very similar. The one glaring difference is the 49ers pass defense which has been a sore spot. Joe Flacco and Torrey Smith had a ton of success last week and I think the magic continues this week.

I think the Ravens put an end to San Francisco’s eight game win streak in a hard fought game. I’d like the spread better at 2 ½ points but I’ll take the 3.

Pick: Baltimore Ravens -3

Buffalo at NY Jets

Sunday, November 27, 1:00 PM ET
NFL Betting Favorite: Jets -9

It is hard to imagine the Jets being favored by 9 points over anybody. But this is no ordinary Buffalo Bills team they are up against. The Bills have completely lost any momentum that they had early in the season and have looked bad offensively and defensively lately. The Jets haven’t scored any points are stuck in the mud and need a defense like the Bills to cure their woes.

Buffalo has been bad – really bad culminating in brutal blowout loss to Miami last week. The Bills have lost three straight games while averaging just 8.6 points per game during the slide. They are banged up on both sides of the ball – their top corner; their top O-Lineman and even Fred Jackson may not play this weekend.

New York has done nothing to gain the support of any bettors but there is absolutely no doubting the fact that they are the superior team. The Jets get the honor of facing one of the worst defenses on the planet this week and something tells me that they may just score some points. With the Jets defense putting the clamps on the Bills offense and the Jets offense finally putting up some points, I smell a 23-6 score in favor of New York at home. 9 points is a huge number until you realize who the Jets are playing!

Pick: New York Jets -9
