Cleveland has played just about everyone tough this season but have just two wins but they are 5-1-1 against the spread against AFC North teams and 9-4-1 against the spread in their last 14 games overall.

The Steelers are ripe for the picking – good thing for a stout defense!

The Pittsburgh Steelers will start Charlie Batch at quarterback Sunday after Byron Leftwich was ruled out of their Week 12 game – yuk! Batch will lead the league’s 13th ranked passing attack that will be without Antonio Brown once again this week.

The Steelers have even signed Plaxico Burress for the remainder of the season. Yes, desperation has officially crept in.

Rashard Mendenhall returned to the lineup in Week 11 to bolster the league’s 17th ranked rushing attack. He and Jonathan Dwyer will be leaned on heavily on Sunday against Cleveland’s 24th ranked rush defense.

Pittsburgh’s defense is officially back to elite status and will likely give rookie QB Brandon Weeden fits. Pittsburgh allows 19 points per game (fifth in the NFL), 89.8 rushing yards (fourth), and 169.3 passing yards (#1 in the league) with five interceptions and 18 sacks. They will be THE key to victory Sunday. It is safe to say that not much is expected of Pittsburgh’s offense.

The Cleveland Browns deserved a better fate last week against the Dallas Cowboys but they lost an overtime squeaker. Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson are both impact rookies that have the future looking bright in Cleveland. A matchup against Pittsburgh’s insane defense will be an eye-opener for sure!

The Browns own the league’s 19th ranked passing offense and the 27th ranked running game. Brandon Weeden has completed 55.3 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Trent Richardson is averaging 3.7 yards per carry with five touchdowns and he has 37 catches with another touchdown. Greg Little has 30 catches and a touchdown, Benjamin Watson has 25 catches and three touchdowns, and Josh Gordon has 24 catches and four touchdowns.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Defensively, Cleveland has been OK although the stats suggest otherwise. They are 22nd against the pass and 24th versus the run but they, like the offense are an emerging bunch.
