Washington vs Dallas Week 3 NFL Lines & Spread Prediction

Venue/Stadium: Cowboys Stadium, Dallas, Texas

In a division that features the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and the “Dream Team” Philadelphia Eagles, few would have guessed that the upstart Washington Redskins would be alone in first place in the NFC East heading in to week three.

But after consecutive home wins over the Giants and Arizona Cardinals, the Redskins are alone at the top heading in to their divisional showdown against the Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

The Redskins trailed Arizona late in to the fourth quarter, but managed to come back with 10 points over the final 5:17 of regulation to earn 22-21 comeback win. Quarterback Rex Grossman made a couple of key mistakes early on with his first two interceptions of the season, but overcame them with a strong game overall by throwing for 291 yards and two scores. The running back tandem of Tim Hightower and Roy Helu racked up 170 yards on the ground and continue to look like a capable pairing, although Washington really needs Grossman to limit his mistakes going forward if they are going to continue to win games. The Redskins’ defense ranks eighth against the run, but has struggled somewhat against the pass, and needs to get more pressure on the quarterback to have success.

Any pressure at all on Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo could force him to the sidelines if he does play after suffering broken ribs and a punctured lung while leading Dallas to a 27-24 comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers. Romo overcame a ton of pain to throw for 345 yards and two touchdowns, and while his status for this game is still in the air, he will need some help from a 31st-ranked rushing attack that features a ton of talent including Felix Jones, but that has yet to get going. Dallas’ defense has been stellar against the run, limiting the New York Jets and 49ers to an average of 59.5 rushing yards for the second-best number in the league, but they will need to get pressure on Grossman and force turnovers.

If Romo is healthy enough to play then he should be able to put up some points at home against the Redskins, but he could use some help from the running game and a defense that has a ton of talent but hasn’t been a force in the turnover department.
