Colts vs Jags Week 17 Gambling Preview

The Colts (2-13) have won 2 straight games, but many fans in Indy may bee rooting for the Jaguars in this game. The Colts are tied with the Rams for the worst record in the league and if the Rams lose to the 49ers and the Colt beat the Jags than St. Louis would end up with the first pick in the draft.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

Will the Colts tank so they can get Andrew Luck? Good question, but not likely, as the Indy players are gunning for a 3rd straight win.

The Jags have lost their last 2 games and 5 of their last 6 and will be facing a Colts’ defense that has held their last 2 opponents to and average of 14.5 ppg. NFL lines have the Jags as 3.5-point favorites with a total of 37.

In their last games the Jags lost to the Tennessee Titans 23-17 while the Colts beat the Houston Texans 19-16.

Earlier this season in Indianapolis the Jags beat the Colts 17-3.

Blaine Gabbert has not had the best rookie season, but all the blame cannot be on him since Jacksonville has one of the weakest WR corps in the league. He has 6 INT in his last 5 games, with only 5 TD, and will be facing a Indy pass defense that ranks 22nd in the league, but has played well in their last few games.

The Colts and their 29th ranked run defense has a major worry in this game in the form of Maurice Jones-Drew, who leads the league in rushing yards and has broken the 100-yard barrier in his last 2 games. The Jags will lean heavily on him in this game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

One of the reasons the Colts have won their last 2 games is the play of QB Dan Orlovsky, who passed for 244 yards with 1 TD and 0 INT in the win over Houston last week. He has a decent WR corps and while the Jags’ pass defense ranks a respectable 7th in the league they have been torched through the air in the last couple of games.

RB’s Donald Brown and Joseph Addai will be going up against a Jags’ run defense that ranks 11th in the league and they must help Orlovsky out, as he cannot do it all on offense.

The Jags must play good D in this game, as they are only averaging 14.9 ppg this season.

Betting Trends

The Colts are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games against teams with a losing record and they have an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 games.

The Jags are e 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games as a favorite, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against teams with a losing record, and they have an Over record of 3-0-1 in their last 4 games.

Jason’s Pick: I do not think the Colts will tank this game and I think they will win, which may be a costly win if the Rams lose. Take the Under in this game, as there will not be many points scored.
