Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons Preview

The way the Bucs (4-11) have been playing that may not matter, as they have lost 9 straight and have looked terrible on both sides of the ball. NFL lines have the Falcons as big 12-point home favorites with a total of 46.

In their last games the Bucs lost to the Carolina Panthers 48-16 and the Falcons lost to the New Orleans Saints 45-16.

This season the Falcons are 6-8-1 ATS with an Over/Under record of 6-9 and the Bucs are 4-11 ATS with an Over/Under record of 6-9.

Atlanta QB Matt Ryan has played well this season and he has a great WR corps and ageless TE Tony Gonzalez. If Ryan gets some rest Chris Redman will get some time under center. The Bucs have the league’s 24th ranked pass defense and they have been torched the last few weeks.

Michael Turner has rushed for over 1,150 yards this season and he may get some well earned rest with Jacquizz Rodgers possibly getting most of the snaps. At least he will be facing a Tampa run defense that ranks 2nd to last in the league.

The Tampa Bay defense has given up at least 31 points in each of their last 4 games.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

Bucs’ QB Josh Freeman has really regressed from last season and he is tied for the league lead with 19 INT. He has a decent receiving corps and has top find the players that have Tampa Bay jerseys and he will be dealing with the weakness of the Atlanta D, which is their pass defense that ranks 19th in the league.

The Falcons are solid defending the run (ranking 9th) and Tampa Bay RB LeGarrette Blount was yanked early in their last game because of a fumble. He has really struggled in the last few games and Freeman may have to carry the offense with his arm.

Betting Trends

The Bucs are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games, and they have an Over record of 5-2 in their last 7 road games.

The Falcons are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 games against teams with a losing record and they have an Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 home games.

Jason’s Pick: This one is a tough one to call, as the Falcons may rest many of their starters, but the Bucs are simply a bad team. Hmmmm, still have to take the Falcons, as whoever is playing on offense should move the chains in this game. Take the Over as well, as I think Atlanta will light up the scoreboard.
