There were some concerns about the 49ers when they started the year at 1-2, but with four consecutive wins and four consecutive covers, bettors are ready to get back aboard the 49er train, and covering a big spread isn’t a concern as they’ve scored better than 30 points in those four games.

The team went to Tennessee and beat a good Titans squad last weekend, 31-17. Colin Kaepernick of course keyed the offense. He completed 13 of 21 passes for 199 yards, but did most of his damage with his feet, rushing for 68 yards and a score. His favorite target on the day was Anquan Boldin, who brought in five balls for 74 yards, while tight end Vernon Davis caught four passes for 62 yards. Frank Gore also pounded out 70 yards and two scores on 24 totes.

The 49er defense kept the Titans out of the endzone into the fourth quarter, with the team already having built up a 24-0 lead. The coaching staff won’t be happy with the 66-yard touchdown scored surrendered to Chris Johnson, but the fumble recovery in the endzone by Kassim Osgood is a good takeaway. The defense had trouble defending slot monster Kendall Wright, who caught nine of 12 targets for 98 yards. Tennessee actually outgained San Francisco in the contest, 368-349, but the 49ers won the turnover battle, 2-0. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

This game will count as a home contest for the Jaguars, even though it will be played over a thousand miles away from Jacksonville. The team’s last game really was played at home, although that didn’t really help them all that much. The Jags got a San Diego team playing on a short week, travelling across the country for an early start, and with their bye on deck, but they still fell by a score of 24-6. The Jaguar offense actually didn’t look all that bad. Quarterback Chad Henne completed 23 of 36 passes for 318 yards, but couldn’t find the ednzone and threw an interception. He was able to spread the wealth, with three of the team’s receiver’s putting up good days. Cecil Shorts brought in eight balls for 80 yards, Justin Blackmon caugh six passes for 58 yards, and Mike Brown turned five receptions into 120 yards. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew remains an afterthought. He ran the ball nine times for 37 yards, and caught two passes for 19 yards.

The defense didn’t do much right, allowing the Chargers to churn out yards on the ground, as the Chargers controlled the ball for 37:30 in the game.

There isn’t a lot that can be said in favor of the Jaguars, but they are in a favorable spot again this week, with San Francisco travelling farther east than they have all season. It might not be pretty, but the Jaguars shouldn’t get blown out.

The 49ers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games versus teams with a losing record.

The play: Jacksonville +17
