Kansas City had to take to the road in their opener, but they had to be happy seeing Jacksonville on their schedule.

The Chiefs are going to run a pass-heavy attack under Andy Reid, and that was true even in a blowout of the Jaguars. Alex Smith threw the ball 34 times, completing 21 of those passes for 173 yards and two scores.

Jamaal Charles racked up 100 total yards and a touchdown in the contest, serving as the centerpiece of the offense. The ball was spread around by Smith, with nine different receivers catching passes. No. 1 receiver Dwayne Bowe hauled in four balls for 30 yards.

The Chief defense didn’t let the Jaguars do a thing in the game. The team limited the combo of Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne to just 157 yards passing, and a total of just 71 yards passing for the Jaguars as a team. Jacksonville was also able to convert on only 5 of 19 third down opportunities.

The Cowboys pulled off a major feat in their opener, beating the Giants for the first time in five tries in their new stadium. Tony Romo completed 36 of 49 passes for 263 yards and two scores with an interception. DeMarco Murray also looked great rushing the football, running hard for 86 yards on 20 carries. Through the air, it was Miles Austin, not Dez Bryant, who was on the receiving end of the majority of Romo’s passes.

He hauled in 10 balls for 72 yards. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Jason Witten caught eight passes for 70 yards and a pair of scores. Quiet for most of the night, Bryant grabbed only four receptions for just 22 yards. Bryant made some noise during the week though, as it seems he’s dealing with a foot sprain.

That combined with Romo’s rib issue, and the Cowboy offense could be in some trouble.

The Cowboy defense did something in their opener that they didn’t do a lot of last season: force turnovers. The unit forced six turnovers in the game, one of which was brought back for a score, but they also allowed Eli Manning to throw for 450 yards and four scores, including a 70-yard strike to Victor Cruz.

Dallas had a lot of trouble with the crowd noise when they travelled to Seattle last season.

They’ll face that issue again at Arrowhead, in front of what will surely be a raucous home crowd for the team’s opener under new head coach Andy Reid, who has already led the team to a 1-0 record.

The Cowboys are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win.

The play: Kansas City -2.5
