Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles stole the show in the team’s last game, a 56-31 drubbing of Oakland.

Quarterback Alex Smith completed 17 of 20 passes for 287 yards and five touchdowns without an interception, but no one was talking about his day after the game. Instead, they were talking about the play of running back Jamaal Charles, who caught eight passes and turned them into 195 yards and four scores. Charles even added a fifth score on the ground despite a surprisingly ineffective rushing performance in which he turned his eight totes into just 20 yards. In total, the Chiefs found the endzone eight times in the game.

One of those scores came from the team’s defense, as Eric Berry returned an interception 37 yards to the house in the first quarter. The pick was one of five the unit generated on a day in which the Raiders turned the ball over seven times. Things got a little interesting when Matt McGloin took over at quarterback as he threw for 297 yards and two scores, but he also had four of the team’s interceptions on the day. Surprisingly, the Chiefs were unable to generate a sack in the game.

Indianapolis’s last game was a laugher throughout as Houston put up little resistance in a 25-3 decision.

Andrew Luck threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns with an interception in the game. The team’s passing attack continues to make strides forward. The addition of Da’Rick Rogers to the mix continues to pay dividends. While Rogers caught only two balls for 23 yards, he was able to pull enough attention away from T.Y. Hilton that Hilton was able to bring in eight passes for 78 yards. Trent Richardson was at the head of the team’s ground game and carried the ball 19 times for 64 yards, adding four receptions for 38 yards and a score. Defensively, the team didn’t have to do much against a woeful Texans attack, but they did sack Case Keenum four times and pick him off twice.

The Colts have been wildly inconsistent which makes them difficult to handicap, but they’ve also shown up for big games and this is one of them, so expect an A-effort from the team as they make some noise on the road. Andrew Luck should have plenty of time to operate against a Kansas City defense that hasn’t been able to generate much pressure in recent weeks.

The Colts are 5-1 ATS in their last six games versus AFC opponents.

The play: Indianapolis +7
