Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets Week 6 NFL Lines & Spread Prediction

MNF – Dolphins vs Jets Week 6 Gambling Preview

The New York Jets entered the 2011-12 NFL season with their goal to finally get through to the Super Bowl after consecutive AFC Championship game appearances in head coach Rex Ryan’s first two years with the team.

Venue/Stadium: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
Time/Date: Monday October 17, 2011 – 8:30 PM ET
NFL Odds from TheGreek
Money Line: Jets -275
Spread (ATS): Jets -7
Over/Under: 42.5

But after losing three straight road games against teams that they are fighting with for playoff position, the Jets suddenly find themselves tempering those expectations and concentrating on the task at hand.

New York will return home following their longest road trip of the season to host the division rival Miami Dolphins, and with a visit from the San Diego Chargers preceding their bye the following week, this game represents a crucial point in their season.

While two wins through their first five games is something that is still manageable, the problems that the Jets are dealing with have now spread beyond the playing field and in to the locker room where there have been complaints about offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and the way that he has directed the team on that side of the ball.

Schottenheimer could go back in time and put a new emphasis on the running game to help open things up for Mark Sanchez and the passing attack, but in the end it is on the players to produce. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

With eight touchdowns compared to five interceptions Sanchez hasn’t progressed the way that some had expected, and in order for this team to take the next step he will have to raise his level of play.

Even though the Jets haven’t been able to put it all together in recent weeks, their problems pale in comparison to the winless Dolphins, who come out of their bye to play three of their next four games on the road against teams that finished with winning records a year ago.

Miami’s defense is giving up an average of 307 yards per game through the air, the second-worst mark in the NFL.

That makes the Dolphins the perfect opponent for the New York offense to get in sync against, and they should be able to get the job done this week and get back to .500 with a win that will prove to be the catalyst to getting their season back on track.
