The New York Giants will be looking to add to their lead in the NFC East when they take on the Seahawks this Sunday afternoon at Qwest Field in Seattle. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. (ET) and the game will be televised regionally on Fox.

New York is currently the toast of the NFC as it comes off its bye week atop its division with a 5-2 record after winning its last four games. The Giants are 4-3 against the spread and the total has gone ‘over’ in four of their first seven games. They are 2-1 both SU and ATS on the road this season.

This team’s dramatic turn around after a 1-2 start can be partially attributed to a new offensive stud at wide receiver; Hakeem Nicks. The second-year vet out of North Carolina has emerged as the second coming of Plaxico Burress for this offense. He leads the team with 45 receptions for 525 yards and has eight touchdown receptions on the year. Overall, New York is ranked third in total offense and seventh in scoring; averaging 25 points per game. NFL Betting

Another huge factor in the Giants recent success has been the elevated play of their defense as a whole. They are ranked second overall; third against the run and second against the pass. They are tied for third in the league in sacks with 24 and are giving up an average of 21.9 points per game.

Seattle finds itself back on top in the NFC West with a SU record of 4-3. It is also 4-3 ATS and the total has gone 3-3-1 in their first seven games. The Seahawks are not known as a very good road team, but they are a perfect 3-0 SU at home this season and 1-1-1 ATS. They are coming off a 33-3 drubbing at the hands of Oakland in a game they were a 1 ½ point road underdog.

This team tends to play night and day different at home than they do on the road. The Seahawks have outscored their opponents 80-36 in their three wins at Qwest Field, while being outscored 107-40 on the road. Their offense, still led by 12-year veteran QB Matt Hasselbeck, is ranked 30th in the league overall and 28th in scoring. While it is averaging just 17.6 points per game overall, Seattle has averaged 26.67 points per game at home.

Seattle’s defense has played inconsistent at times this season and is ranked 26th overall, but it remains stingy in points allowed, giving up an average of just 20 points per game and just 12 points a game at home. The Seahawks have been solid against the run; giving up an average of just 100.6 yards per game, but have been vulnerable to the pass; giving up an average of 267.7 yards per game.

New York is 3-8 ATS in its last 11 games as a favorite while Seattle is 4-0 ATS in its last four games as a home underdog and 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a SU loss. These Giants will be too tall task to bring down this week, but the Seahawks at home should keep it close enough to cover the seven points.

One reply on “N.Y. vs. Seattle Preview & Free Week 9 Pick”

Yeah I don’t think the Giants are quite as good as advertised, they’re a bit of a head-scratching team with players like Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs (good players, should be better, have strong performances but put up random stinkers).

The pass-rush is fantastic, but Kiwanuka is injured so that won’t help. I think the Giants’ offensive line is on the downside of its effectiveness and though they should beat Seattle, it’s kind of surprising how vulnerable ALL the NFC East teams have been this season. If you’d asked me at the beginning of the season, I would’ve said the NFC East is the best division in the NFL.
