Early NFL Odds For Week 9

If NFL betting trends are going to continue this week bettors need to pay close attention to the NFL betting odds. We preview the early Week 9 nfl lines.

NFL Week 9 – Early Lines Look

Week 8 was full of upsets once again as underdogs paid off for NFL betting fans. Will the trend continue in Week 9, or will the favorites step up and come through?

When the lines for Week 9 first began appearing the biggest spread to be found was in the Detroit/Chicago matchup. That shouldn’t be much of a surprise considering the Lions are winless at 0-7 and they’re visiting Chicago in Week 9 with the Bears tied for first in the NFC North and coming off their bye.

The Bears are a 12.5-point favorite on the NFL odds, and after they dismantled the Lions 34-7 in Detroit back in Week 5 this looks like an easy money grab for bettors.

Also highlighting the Week 9 schedule are three divisional matchups that should all have a major impact on the standings. First up is an NFC East showdown between the Cowboys and the Giants. A few weeks ago this would have likely been a close matchup with a very small spread. However, with the Cowboys missing Tony Romo and playing some pretty bad football in recent weeks the Giants opened as a 7.5-point home favorite on the NFL odds.

In the AFC East this week the Jets and Bills clash with first place in the division on the line. Right now the Bills and Patriots are tied for first place in the East at 5-2, but Brett Favre and the Jets are right behind them at 4-3. The Bills had their first divisional game of the season last week and lost to Miami 25-16. The Jets are 1-1 in the division so far this season, with a loss to New England and a win over Miami. As well, they’re coming off a come-from-behind win over Kansas City last week that, according to the oddsmakers, they should have won easily. That may be one reason the Bills are a 5.5-point favorite on the NFL odds this week.

The last notable divisional clash on the Week 9 schedule is Baltimore at Cleveland. After the Steelers lost to the Giants last week the AFC North is up for grabs again, and both the Ravens and Browns still have a shot at it. Cleveland may have saved their season last week with an upset win over Jacksonville, while Baltimore has reeled off two wins in a row after dumping Oakland last week. The Browns are a 1.5-point home favorite on the NFL odds this weekend, but that line has already been on the move and could look different come Sunday.
