The Titans will look to stay in the early hunt for first place in the AFC South, keeping pace with the Colts and Texans who have both beaten the Denver this season. Likewise, this game is equally as important to the Broncos who look to get back on the rails to .500 starting with a win in their first of two road games over the next two weeks.

The two teams have met just three times since 1992, so it should be an interesting matchup.

Tennessee is coming off a 29-10 victory over the Giants in Week 3, a game where its usual stingy defense gave up 471 yards to New York, but still has only allowed just two offensive touchdowns in its first three games.

They will not get away with the same against a Denver offense that brings the NFL’s top-ranked pass offense to Music City on Sunday.

Quarterback Kyle Orton has quickly become one of the NFL’s most productive passers averaging 350 yards per game. However, Orton’s career-high 476 passing yards wasn’t enough to help Denver avoid a 27-13 home loss to Indianapolis last Sunday.

He will now face a Titans’ 5th ranked defense (5th in passing, 17th in rushing), that has allowed just 14.0 points per game. He is also likely to spend his day scrambling out of the pocket, as Tennessee is good at getting to the oppositions’ QB, racking up 10 sacks in three games, while forcing four fumbles, and three interceptions so far this year.

In the meantime, the Titans pack a pretty good offensive punch –5th-ranked in the NFL– with their wicked ground assault led by running back Chris Johnson who is averaging 100 yards per game and has 4 TDs on the season — enough for 8th in rushing.

However, the passing game has struggled and is second to last in the league. QB Vince Young has been the focus of a lot of attention over the past few weeks, mainly stemming from his being pulled in Week 2 after tossing two of the Titans three interceptions and losing a fumble in a 19-11 loss against the Steelers.

Denver’s 10th ranked rushing defense is much improved from last season and held the Colts to 40 yards on 22 carries. But they will be tested as they try to slow down Johnson.

If the Titans play as they did against the Giants, the Denver passing game will dissect them for sure. Likewise, the Broncos will need to balance its offense and put points on the board. Gaining yards on the ground needs to come from somewhere. Finally, Denver desperately needs to get the ball into the end zone. Not like last week’s game that netted just 13 points on 519 yards of offensive output.
