Early NFL Odds For Week 17

If NFL betting trends are going to continue this week bettors need to pay close attention to the NFL betting odds. We preview the early Week 17 nfl lines…

NFL Week 17 Early Lines Look

The only thing that makes NFL betting more interesting is adding a little playoff implication spice to the mix. That’s exactly the case in Week 17, with at least eight games on the board that play a role in determining who goes on and who signs up for early tee times on Monday.

The AFC West division title is on the line in the Sunday nighter, as the surging San Diego Chargers host the Denver Broncos. Oddsmakers like the Chargers to see another week of action, listing San Diego as sizable 8.5-point chalk for the contest.

Matters are more wild over in the AFC East, where the Miami Dolphins can clinch the division and a trip to the playoffs with a win at the New York Jets (-2.5), which need to win and have the New England Patriots fall to the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots are priced as 6.5-point road faves for their matchup, as New England needs a victory and a win by the Jets to clinch.

In the AFC North, the only thing keeping the Baltimore Ravens from a guaranteed wild card berth is the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Ravens are currently listed as 12.5-point home favorites to seal the deal.

There’s even more of a handicapping gongshow in the NFC, where the Dallas Cowboys can manage to slip into the postseason via the wild card with a win at the Philadelphia Eagles (-1.5). The Eagles have a much tougher path, as Philadelphia needs to knock off Dallas and have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears both lose out.

The Buccaneers have the good fortune of hosting the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, although they could have a hard time covering the 13-point fave tag slapped on them by oddsmakers. Tampa Bay needs a win and a Dallas loss, which is a slightly better position in which to be than Chicago.

The Bears needed that win in the Monday nighter at home to the Green Bay Packers just to be in the conversation prior to their Week 17 clash at the Houston Texans. Chicago is still looking up at the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North, with the Vikings only needing a victory at home to the New York Giants or a Bears loss to step into the playoffs.

Other games without direct playoff implications but which are of interest to bettors include the Packers hosting the Detroit Lions, as the Lions look to avoid becoming the NFL’s first-ever 0-17 team. In Indianapolis, the Colts entertain the Tennessee Titans in a preview of what could be the AFC Championship Game.
