The Green Bay Packers travel to the “City of Brotherly Love” to open their 2010 NFL regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept 12 at Lincoln Financial Field.

Two playoff teams from a year ago will try to get their 2010 season started on strong note with a win in this NFC Conference matchup. Their records from last season were identical across the board. Straight up, each team finished with an 11-5 overall record, were both  6-2 at home, 5-3 on the road, 4-2 in the division, and 9-3 in the conference.

Against the spread, Green Bay was 11-4-1; 5-2-1 at home and 6-2 on the road. Philadelphia was 8-7-1 ATS; 4-4 at home and 4-3-1 on the road.

Green Bay is coming off a very productive training camp and preseason campaign. The first team offense led by QB Aaron Rodgers looked sharp every time they were on the field as they were able to move the ball at will and score touchdowns in the red zone.

In this game, Rodgers will look to test the Eagles secondary early and often by throwing the ball downfield to either Donald Driver or Greg Jennings, who were the Packers two leading wide receivers last season. Another huge part of this offense is TE Jermichael Finley, who led the team in the preseason with 12 receptions for 163 yards. NFL Betting

The Packers will turn to Ryan Grant as the feature back in their ground game. Last season he led the team with 1,253 yards on 282 carries. It was the second season in a row he ran for over 1,200 yards since becoming the starter in 2008.

Philadelphia will have a new look on offense with the departure of QB Donovan McNabb and RB Brian Westbrook, who were both the mainstays of the Eagles’ offensive attack over the past several seasons. In their place will be Kevin Kolb as the new starting quarterback and second year RB LeSean McCoy as the new featured back.

Kolb will have some quality talent as well to throw the ball to with WR’s DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin along with TE Brent Celek. Jackson is known as a big play threat as he can score from anywhere on the field. Celek is rapidly becoming one of the best tight ends in the league after a breakout season in 2009 where he led the team in receptions with 76 for 971 yards.

The Eagles first team offense had its struggles in the preseason as they stalled numerous times in the red zone. They have to hope that things come together quickly on Sunday, to have any chance of keeping pace with Green Bay’s high flying offensive attack.

The last time these two teams met was on opening day in 2007. Green Bay pulled out a 16-13 win as a three point home underdog. The game stayed well under the 42 ½ point total. In the last 10 games they have played against one another, Philadelphia has won six games SU and seven ATS. The total line has stayed under in seven of the 10 games.

Green Bay appears to be firing on all cylinders heading in to their opener, while Philadelphia is still trying to patch up its offensive line and tighten up its secondary. The Packers should have little trouble putting points on the board as well as making Kolb’s first game as the new starter a rough one by keeping him running for his life all day long.
